Seniors: Our last scheduled game of the year was conceded by Ballybay last weekend. We subsequently finished with 15 points. Such was the closeness in the senior table, only 4 more points accumulated would have got a semi-final spot. Instead, we have a long winter ahead of us and intermediate to look to in 2013.
Playing Year Closes: All official Monaghan club games have ended at this time. Thanks to all the players and management at all grades for their considerable efforts in the year in representing the club. Hope to see you all back and hungry for success in 2013! Triucha Abu.

Hurling:
U-16s: Congratulations to our under hurlers who won the u16 Championship on Wednesday night last. They beat Carrickmacross on a scoreline of Truagh 4-5 Carrick 3-1. We started well with 3 points from Conor Boyle, 2 from placed balls and a point from play. This start was further improved on after the 20 min mark with goals from Caolan McGee and Conor Boyle putting us well in control. We were dominating play at this stage with the defense holding out all Carrick attacks, with strong play from Noel Flood and Johnny McKenna. However, we missed a number of goal chances late in the half, with Aaron Murray going close on 2 occasions. A further goal and a point from Conor Boyle ensured we went in at the break with a strong lead. Half time Truagh 3-4 Carrick 0-0. After the break Carrick started strongly with Truagh seemingly leaving their hurling in the dressing room. 2 goals and a point from Carrick left us with a battle on our hands. Despite resolute defending from Johnny McKenna and Colm McAnespie, a further goal was conceded leaving only a goal between the teams. A good point from play from Niall Myers eased the nerves on the Truagh team. This was quickly followed by a Conor Boyle goal to leave at least 3 scores. The defense held out from here on and the game concluded with a 7 point win for the Gaels. Cathal Hand presented the cup to Truagh captain Noel Flood and history was made as the red and black took possesion of the u16 championship for the 1st time. Team: Conor McCooey, Colm McAnespie, Noel Flood, Pearse McKenna, Caolan McClave, Johnny McKenna, Conor Treanor, Shane Treanor, Conor Boyle (3-4), Matthew Flood, Darren Sherlock, Niall Myers (0-1), Aaron Murray, Caolan McGee (1-0), Emmett O’Neill. Subs: Fergal Rafferty for Aaron Murray, Emmett Campbell for Emmett O’Neill, Daniel Treanor for Colm McAnespie, Sean Bruton for Niall Myers. Well done to lads and management of Proinsias McKenna and Pauric McKenna
Minors: Our minor hurling amalgamation with Monaghan Harps suffered defeat to Emmett Grattans (Inniskeen/Carrick) on Saturday last. Despite being 3 points up at half time 1-06 to 1-3, we had a sluggish start to the second half conceding 2 goals in quick succession. We pulled back to 4 points down and missed a number of goal opportunities with 5mins to goal. However, a suckerpunch of a goal was conceded to end the contest in the last minute. Team: Conor O’Neill, Tiernan Bramley, Johnny McKenna, Conor Treanor, Conor Burns, Noel Flood, Gareth Mohan, Conor Curley, Cathal McAnespie (1-0), Conor Boyle (0-6 (4f)), Patrick McMeel (0-1), Dylan McGee, Ciaran McQuaid, Damon Hughes, Shane Treanor. Subs; Brendan McQuaid (1-0) for Damon Hughes, Caolan McGee for Dylan McGee, Christopher Hughes for Gareth Mohan. Unused subs; Matthew Flood and Pearse McKenna.
