Doohamlet GFC Notes

Intermediate Championship Final:  Championship fever has gripped the Doohamlet community as we travel to Clontibret on Sunday next to play our old rivals Tyholland in the 2012 Intermediate Championship Final.  Doohamlet have had a long and demanding route to this final as we overcame Sean McDermotts, Inniskeen, Rockcorry and a tense battle against Cremartin in the semi-final.

Thankfully our injuries have cleared but spare a thought for our stalwart No. 4 Shane J. Connolly who will be unable to take his place due to a severe knee injury but no doubt he will wish his fellow teammates all the best on the big day.

Preparations have been intense and thorough and both teams will know each other well having played in the 2010 decider.  We wish Team Manager Dessie and his selectors Trevor and David, Team Captain Ted and all the players the very best of luck and let’s hope for a good game of open football and hopefully we can celebrate a famous victory.  Throw in at Clontibret 3.45pm

Sponsorship:  Many Many Thanks to all our sponsors whose generosity has been overwhelming.  Gerry and Deirdre McElroy who kindly sponsored our amazing Come Meet the Players breakfast morning last Sunday which was an outstanding success and we thank our supporters for turning out in such large numbers.

Alexis and Marion Connolly proprietors of our local hostelry who have sponsored our after match meal for the players and officials.

Teddy and Betty Duffy (Doohamlet Construction) who have sponsored new playing gear for the big game.

Gerry and Agnes Duffy (Eurotech) who have made a sizable donation to the players training fund.

Damian Hughes (The Spinning Wheel) who sponsored Polo Tops for the team.

Trevor and Marie Duffy (TD Freight) who sponsored Training Tops.

Declan Loughman (Loughman Sports) who has donated gloves to the full panel.

We thank each and every one for their amazing support.

Best Wishes:  To Barry McBennett our youthful forward who sustained a serious injury last week in the Reserve League semi-final.  We wish Barry a speedy recovery.
