DOOHAMLET GFC Notes

Intermediate league Final:  Doubles are not easy won as was proved at a wet and windy Drumhowan venue on Sunday last in this Intermediate league final.

Doohamlet made a dream start having scored 1 02 in the opening minutes with Paul McArdle scoring our goal but as the weather deteriorated so did our play and scores were at a premium. With the wet conditions both defences were very much on top but Doohamlet still had a two point advantage going into the closing minutes only for Rockcorry to find the net and this gave them the impetus to push on and record a famous victory and claim their first intermediate title and we congratulate them on their victory. ( See match report)

Doohamlet have led the Intermediate league virtually all season and players and management should be very proud of their achievements and should not be disappointed just falling short in the final minutes last Sunday.

However our spirits were not low for long as Raymond Watters (Old Coach Inn) and his friendly staff treated the club to a sumptuous meal and refreshments after the game. From there we made our way to our local, Connolly’s to celebrate Jason McElroy’s 21st birthday celebrations and a great night was had by all.

Ulster Club Championship:  Doohamlet have no time to reflect on last Sundays disappointment as we make the short journey to Ballybay on Sunday next to play Cavan champions Lacken in this Ulster club quarter final clash with an early Throw In 12 45pm.

Doohamlet have fond memories of this club championship having reached the final in 2010 and we hope to do well in this prestigious competition. Good luck to all concerned and to our Senior and Junior representatives Ballybay and Drumhowan.
