Senior Football.
Last Saturday we were to play our final game in the S.F.L. against Clontibret in Scotshouse but Clontibret failed to travel, much to the disappointment of everyone in the locality. For a multitude of reasons, this situation should not be acceptable to those responsible for providing meaningful competition for our teams. However great credit is due to our own senior players and management who turned up for the end of season ‘get together’ later that evening and all involved had an enjoyable night.
Juvenile and Youth.
St.Enda’s N.S. boy’s football team will take part in the schools county final on Saturday 20th October with the time and venue yet to be confirmed. The boys came out convincing winners in all their four games and will now meet the winners of Annalitten, Rackwallace or Ballnageran.
Last week they defeated both Leitrim N.S and Knockatallon N.S on convincing scorelines of 5-7 to 2-1 and 5-9 to 1-2. Kevin McPhillips lined out in goals and was excellent making some great saves throughout. Danny McQuaid controlled the defence clearing and blocking. Tiarnán Kierans and James McQuaid lining out in midfield showed the talent that Currin G.F.C. have coming through with Tiarnán scoring with both feet and showing his ability to block a ball and James McQuaid scoring freely throughout the blitz from all angles. Jack McQuaid was the target man at full forward and will be a real threat in the final. Shane Duffy, Sean Fay and Eoin Fitzpatrick all entered the fray and showed the depth and strength this school team has.
Best of Luck to the boys and their manager M’s Ashling Tierney in the final.
