JFL Semi Final: Aghabog 1-10 Emyvale 1-09

After an enthralling clash in Emyvale last Saturday, we booked our place in the Junior League final. We got off to the worst possible start conceding a goal in the opening minute. Thereafter however we settled into the game and kicked over some good points. We got a major boost when Paddy and Sean O’Brien combined to fire to the Emyvale net setting us up for a 1-05 1-02 lead at the break. We continued where we left off at the start of the second half and some good points by Sean and Shane O’Brien put us in a commanding position leading 1-08 1-03. Emyvale however came roaring back and hit over a number of points in quick succession and when they sent over a thirteen metre free with the game ticking into injury time to draw level at 1-09 apiece, the signs looked ominous. It was a case of hearts in mouths for our loyal supporters as Emyvale drove forward in search of the winner, however we managed to intercept and clear the ball up-field where Sean O’Brien was on hand to fire over the winner and book our place in the Dr Ward Cup Final.
