Scotstown Notes

Seniors: An under-strength Ballybay were the visitors to Páirc Mhuire on Sunday afternoon, and Scotstown recorded a comfortable 3-17 to 0-7 win. The Blues have three games left and are one point away from a semi-final spot. Scotstown team & scorers: R Beggan (0-2); Duffy (0-1), Morgan, E Beggan; McPhillips, D Hughes, McArdle (0-1); F Caulfield (c), Hamill (0-2); Carey (1-5), S Sherry (0-1), K Hughes (1-1); D McCrudden (0-1), Heaphey (1-0), Grant. Substitutes used: M Treanor (0-1), E Maguire (0-1), O’Hara, McGinnity (0-1), McNally. The next Senior game is scheduled for Saturday, September 22nd away to Currin.

B Team: The final RFL Division One season before the knockout stages takes place this Sunday, September 16th. Scotstown play Magheracloone away with a 12:30pm start. Scotstown are already guaranteed second place in the table, no matter what the result is on Sunday.

C Team: The semi-final of RFL Division Three was rearranged again last week, and Scotstown will now play Inniskeen at home this Saturday, September 15th. Throw-in is at 5:30pm. Emyvale await the winners in the Final.

Minors: The Minor League Division One Final took place on Saturday afternoon in Drumhowan. Scotstown came out on top against Castleblayney Faughs with a one point victory. Scotstown team and scorers were: Conor Forde; Brian Harraghy, Caolan McElwain, Emmet King; Calum Maguire, Evan Murray (0-1), Mark Fox; Micheal McCarville, Ryan Caulfield; Jack Turley, Tommy Moyna, Conor McCarthy (0-3); Ruairi Sheehan (2-2), Sean Mohan (0-2), Donnacha Dolan (0-1). Substitutes used: Brendan Boylan, Jason Carey, Jack McDevitt, Michael McCrarren. The Minors are back in action again this Saturday afternoon against Monaghan Harps in the Championship semi-final at Truagh – throw-in is at 3pm.

Under 16’s: The Division One side have made it through to the Championship Final after a very entertaining semi-final victory over Monaghan Harps last Thursday evening. Scotstown lead by a point at half-time, and looked to be on their way with a dominant second half showing. However, a strong fight back from the home side secured a 2-11 to 3-8 draw. Both teams found the extra time tough, but Scotstown coped better with it and eventually won by 3-22 to 4-8. The Final will be on this evening (Thursday) against Donaghmoyne under lights at Emyvale, throwing in at 8:30pm.

Under 14’s: Scotstown play Monaghan Harps at home in the Division One League semi-final this Saturday, September 15th at 12 noon. The last Division Five fixture of the season, away to Fergal O’Hanlon’s is also due to be played on the same day at 12 noon at Mullaghdun.

Ladies Under 16’s: Well done to the girls who won their League Final against Monaghan Harps last Thursday evening by 6-6 to 1-6.
