Seniors:
Our Championship hopes for this year ended with a disappointing 1-8 to
1-6 defeat to Castleblayney on Saturday evening. There was nothing
between the teams at the end of the first half, as both sides swapped
points to go in level at four points each at the break. The Blues made
a breakthrough halfway through the second period when Carey flicked a
high ball into the net for a goal, but Castleblayney replied with a
goal of their own from the very next attack. The Faughs registered the
only two points of the final ten minutes of play which ended up being
the difference. Scotstown team & scorers: R Beggan; Morgan, Carroll, E
Beggan; Duffy, Turley, McPhillips; F Caulfield (c), D Hughes (0-1);
Carey (1-2), K Hughes (0-2), McNally; Grant, Heaphey, D McCrudden
(0-1). Substitutes used: McArdle, E Maguire, O’Hara, McGinnity, S
Sherry. The focus for Scotstown now switches back to the Senior
League, where they have four games remaining. Ballybay are the
visitors to Páirc Mhuire on Sunday afternoon, with a 1:30pm start.
Minors:
The Minor League Division One Final takes place on Saturday afternoon
in Drumhowan at 2pm – Castleblayney Faughs are the opposition. Best of
luck to all involved! The Minor Championship semi-final at home to
Monaghan Harps is scheduled for the following Saturday.
C Team:
Scotstown play Inniskeen at home in the semi-final of RFL Division
Three on Saturday, September 15th. Throw-in is at 5:30pm.
Under 16s:
The Division One team gained some measure of revenge for their League
Final defeat to Killanny by defeating the same opposition by 0-11 to
0-5 in the Championship last Thursday. The lads are back in action
this Thursday in the Championship semi-final away to Monaghan Harps,
throwing in at 6pm. The B team conceded their Division Four
Championship game against Rock Emmets last week.
Under 14s:
Scotstown finished second in League Division One, and will play
Monaghan Harps in the semi-final which will take place on Saturday,
September 15th. The last Division Five fixture of the season, away to
Fergal O’Hanlon’s is due to be played on the same day.
Under 12s:
The Division One and the Division Six teams both travelled to Ballybay
for Finals, but unfortunately they both came home empty-handed. In the
Division One Shield Final, Truagh made the most of having a strong
breeze at their backs in the opening period to record an eight point
victory. It was much the same story in the Division Six Cup Final, as
Donaghmoyne built up a good lead with the aid of the wind, which
Scotstown could only get to within five points of by the final
whistle. There will be a Skills session for all Under 12 boys this
Saturday 10:30am-1pm.
