Minors – Division 3 Final St Pats 3-14 Corduff 1-11 St Pats captured the Div. 3 league title with a hard earned win over Corduff in Oram two weeks ago. It took a good while for St Pats to settle and Corduff had the better of the opening exchanges. However goals before and after half time from Dessie Ward ,Mark Mc Cabe and Aiden Quinn swung the tie in our favour. This was a good hard working performance from the team with Dessie Ward on top scoring form and he had good help from Ryan Wylie, Dean Mooney, Aiden Quinn and Mark Mc Cabe among others. Team captain Mark Mc Cabe accepted the cup and thanked all the panel for their hard work and the team management of Tommy Mc Ardle, Cathal Hand, Niall Mc Adam and Andy Wylie for their input and dedication through the year. Thanks to Raymond Watters for the meal after the final.
Minor Championship – Corduff managed to reverse the league final defeat with a one point win over St Pats in the championship semi-final in Inniskeen last week under lights after extra time. This was a close fought game where never much separated the sides throughout. Early in extra time St Pat’s hopes suffered a major blow when they had a player sent off and although they battled to the end they just came up short at the finish. It was a disappointing end to a great campaign and like the u-16 squad it was an extra time defeat that put them out. However any season you pick up silverware is a success and again well done to the panel of players who have improved all season and to the management team for all their hard work.
Under 16s – St Pats 3-10 Aughnamullen 3-12. St Pats bowed out of the championship after going down by 2 points to Aughnamullen on Thursday evening week last after extra time. This was a game that ebbed and flowed with both teams on top for various periods. It was a late goal for Aughnamullen that won the day in the end. St Pats will be disappointed with some of their shooting and at missing out on a chance of having a crack at the double. However it has been a good season for the team and well done to all the players and management team of Martin Duffy, Gavin Sheridan, Colm Duffy and Enda Monaghan. With most of the team still underage for next season it should make for another exciting campaign.
Under 14s – Drumhowan played Emyvale at home on Saturday and emerged winners in a high scoring game. This win along with other results has left Drumhowan in the final which will be a few weeks away as playoffs are needed to sort out our opposition. They will hope now to follow the lead of the minors, the u -16 and the u-12 squads and capture another piece of silverware.
