Seniors – The senior team successfully secured their place in the championship final with a great win against Clones in Scotstown on Sunday last. All of the boys played well and a great team effort was shown. Scorers included Mickey Atkinson 1 point, Colm Lambe 8 points (7 from frees), Patrick Mulligan 1 point, Ciaran Deery 3 points and David Millar 1 point. The final will take place on Sunday 30th September in Scotstown at 3.45 to be sure to get your flags out and support the boys!
Junior Bs- The b game against Ballybay that was fixed for Saturday was moved to last night (Wednesday) at 6.30pm in Ballybay. Report will be in next week’s notes.
Minors – At this stage we will know the result of the league final against Corduff which took place on Tuesday night. We now have to face the same opposition again under lights in Inniskeen at 8pm on Tuesday next in the championship semi-final.
Under 16s – St Pats play Aughnamullen in the championship semi-final in Drumhowan this evening Thursday at 6pm. This will be a close affair as the teams have met twice already and have one win apiece. Please ensure to come out and support the boys.
Under 14s -This team has already qualified for the semi-final. They play Emyvale in the final league game On Saturday 15th in Drumhowan.
Under 12s – Pride of place this week goes to our Under 12 squad who captured the Div. 3 shield final by beating a gallant Clontibret side by 2 goals on Saturday morning last. Giving away inches and pounds to their opponents this was a game where the team showed massive determination and spirit to win out in the end. There were great scenes of joy when the cup was presented to team captain Daniel Tomany. Great credit is due to the players and parents for their great commitment to training all season. Also special thanks to mentors Anthony Brennan, Sean Smyth, Padraig Duffy, Paul Mc Guirk and Francis Mc Mahon who have worked really hard with this group of players over the past number of seasons and they finally got the reward they deserved. Afterwards the team went to Tullycorbett hall for well-earned refreshments. Team and scorers was Tom Mc Guirk, Joseph Duffy, Gerard Quinn, Daniel Tomany, Dara Mc Elearney, Patrick Quinn 2-1, Lee Traynor, Shay Traynor, Cormac Duffy 1-0, Aodhann Brennan 0-2, Cait Brennan. Subs Stefan Farrell 1-1, Angie Mc Guirk, Lorna Mc Guirk, Lauren Duffy, Mark Tomany, Ciara Mc Adam, Ciara Quinn, Orla Brennan, Leah Farrell and Luke Gallagher.
Under 8 Go Games – A blitz is been held in St Tiernachs Park in Clones on this Saturday morning. This is a great chance for our youngsters to play in Ulster’s premier venue. A bus will depart Tullycorbett Hall at 10-45 and Brenbay Stores in Ballybay at 11am. It will return around 2-15 – 2.30pm. As we are entering two teams in the blitz we appeal for a full turnout of players.
Under-Age Coaching – The under-age coaching for our under 6s, under-8s, under-10s and under-14s continues on Monday evenings in Mc Keown Park at 7pm. Thanks to all those who are attending our coaching sessions in such great numbers.
All Ireland Tickets- Draw cards for All Ireland tickets are on sale for the next few weeks. People will be calling over the next couple of weeks so be sure to enter the draw to be in with the chance of winning 2 All-Ireland tickets!
Thanks- Thanks to everyone who worked at the Under 12 finals on Saturday last. The day was a great success and congratulations to all teams who took part. A special word of thanks to all steward who helped out with parking and ensuring that the games ran smoothly, to the girls who worked in the shop- Clodagh, Duana and Karen and to Mary and Nancy all the women who helped out with the tea.
Stewards- Stewards are needed for the games in Drumhowan this weekend. Please be at the grounds at 1pm on Saturday and 4.30pm Sunday.
Sympathy- The club wishes to express their sympathy to the Mc Ardle families, Castleblayney and Drumhowan on the death of Junior Mc Manus, Castleblayney. Junior was a stalwart for Castleblayney and corner back for Castleblayney in the late 60s and early 70s. Sympathies also to the Mc Bennett family Carrickmacross and Duffy family, Drumhowan on the death of Mary mc Bennett nee Duffy, sister of Paddy and Jim Duffy who played with Drumhowan in 60s. Mary was from Shane and married a local man Patsy mc Bennett and they lived in Carrickmacross. Ar dheis Dé go raibh bhur anam dílis.
