U14 Division 1 Shield Semi-Final

Hard luck on the boys on Saturday last who lost out on a place in the final by 2points 1-17 to 1-19 for Emyvale in an exciting and closely contested game at O’Neill Park. This was our first year in many competing at Division 1 level and despite lack of numbers and often conceding height and strength the whole team contested well throughout the campaign. The challenging experience of competing at this level will stand to these young players, many of whom will wear the senior jersey with distinction in years to come. Well done to all the players and mentors Colm Gormley, Padraig McGuigan and Dessie Mone over a long campaign consisting of 57 different outings since the springtime. The lineout on Saturday was: Tiarnan McQuaid, Cian Brennan, Daniel McDonnell, Vinnie Coyle, Darren Moen (0-1), Dean McDonnell, Michael Savage (1-3), Dean McGuigan (0-2), Ross Lowey, Darragh Hughes,(0-3), Jamie McMahon, Jack Gormley (0-5), Cian Coyle (0-1). Subs: Eli Ward (0-2), Aaron McGuigan, Peter Fitzpatrick, Darragh Todd, Lorcan Rooney, David Ward, Christopher McDermott, Oisin Lavelle. The absence through injury of Dean Brennan who performed with such gusto in earlier games was keenly felt.
