5K/ 10K FUN RUN

Our juvenile  committee arranged a very enjoyable evening last Saturday. A big bonus on the evening I the weather behaved for once. Some 95 participants took part, both young and old, which give us a glimpse of the local countryside. Afterwards we were treated to a BBQ and some entertaining music provided by Brian and Fergal Mullen. A big thank you to all who took part and those who generously sponsored the children.

 

Championship:

We exited the championship last Friday evening in Drumhowan. Weather conditions were not conducive to good ball handling but our men battled well for the hour. Hopefully we can gain a few points in the league to move out of the relegation spots.

 

Cultural Night:

Our Traditional Irish Music session takes place on the 2nd Friday of each month. Next session takes place on Friday 14th September. Junior musicians will kick off proceedings @ 9pm sharp, with the pace rapidly increasing as the night goes on! We look forward to seeing you all there for a great night’s entertainment. Refreshments served.

 

All Ireland Fleadh:

Congratulations to Cillian Murphy, James Murphy & Shane Maguire, on coming 1st place in U12 Set Dancing, at the All Ireland Fleadh last weekend. Shane Maguire also came 2nd place in the U12 Drum competition, and Rian McEntee picked up 3rd prize in the 12-15 Banjo competition. Congratulations to one and all.

 

Also, well done to all our local musicians, who performed on the gig rig at the Fleadh, with Corcaghan C.C.E. This was a tremendous display of music, song & dance, which delighted the huge audience. It was terrific to see so many locals turn out in support & acknowledgement, of the huge effort that was put in behind the scenes, by all the participants, plus Collette & Monica Beagan. Well done everyone !
