Scotstown Notes

Seniors:
Scotstown progressed in the Championship with a comfortable win over
Carrickmacross on Sunday evening at Clontibret team. Two red cards
took some of the gloss off the victory, but the game was over as a
contest by half-time thanks to goals from Heaphey (2) and Darren
Hughes. Scotstown will now meet old rivals Castleblayney on Saturday
evening at 6pm in Clontibret for a place in the semi-final. Sunday’s
League fixture against Currin has been postponed. Scotstown team &
scorers: R Beggan; Morgan, Carroll, E Caulfield; Duffy, Turley,
McPhillips; F Caulfield (c), D Hughes (1-2); Carey (0-2), K Hughes
(0-3), McNally (0-1); Grant (0-3), Heaphey (2-1), D McCrudden.
Substitutes used: Hamill, E Beggan, O’Hara, McGinnity, S Sherry.
B Team:
Wednesday evenings Reserve League Division One game against
Magheracloone was postponed, with no new date set for it to be played
as yet.
C Team:
Scotstown were due to play Inniskeen in the semi-final of RFL Division
Three last Wednesday evening, but the game was postponed due to
Inniskeen’s continued involvement in the Intermediate Championship.
The fixture has now been set for Saturday, September 8th.
Minors:
Carrickmacross conceded the Championship group game which was due to
be played last Tuesday evening. Scotstown finish top of Championship
Group B. The Minor League semi-final against Harps took place on
Monday evening, and in a tough encounter the Blues came out on top by
1-11 to 1-9. They will now face Castleblayney in the Final – time and
date to be confirmed. Scotstown team & scorers: Forde (0-1), B

Under 16s:
Scotstown lost out to Killanny in the League Division One Final at
Blackhill on Thursday last. The Geraldines got off to the perfect
start with a goal in the opening minute, and Scotstown were on the
back foot for the rest of the game. The Blues trailed by seven points
at the break, and although they created more chances in the second
period, they couldn’t make them count and Killanny claimed their first
Under 16 title in their history. Scotstown team and scorers: C Toal; R
McCarthy, C McElwain, P O’Connell; C McGonnell, J Caulfield, Kevin
Treanor; J Turley (c), B Boylan; Kieran Treanor (0-2), S McMahon

The A team face Killanny again this evening (Thursday) in the
Championship – throw-in is at 6:30pm in Killanny. The B team are due
to play Rock Emmets at home in the Division Four Championship on the
same evening, starting at 6:30pm.
Under 14s:
The Division One team had a good win away at Emyvale last Wednesday
evening, while the final game of the regular League schedule was
against Truagh on Saturday. Unfortunately the lads were beaten by two
points against the Division One pacesetters in a highly entertaining,
competitive and skilful game. Scotstown finish second in the table and
will play Monaghan Harps in the semi-final.
Under 12s:
The Division One team will be in the Shield Final against Truagh this
Saturday September 1st at 4pm. Earlier in the day the Division Six
team will play Donaghmoyne B in the Cup Final at 12:15pm. Both games
are in Ballybay.
Championship Hosts:
We are due to host a JFC Semi-Final double-header this Sunday,
September 2nd. Emyvale play Éire Óg at 4pm, followed by Drumhowan
against Clones at 5:30pm. Club members are requested to be at Páirc
Mhuire from 3pm to help with stewarding.
Notice:
All games on the main field and Kilmore must be booked through Frank
McKenna – no exceptions.
Olympics:
Scotstown fan Patsy Brady made the trip to London for the Olympic
Cycling Road Race last month. Patsy wrote an excellent account of his
trip which is now available on emyvale.net, and is well worth a read!
Congratulations:
Congratulations to Declan & Donna McCarville on the birth of a
daughter during the week.

Ladies Minors:
The girls had a narrow defeat against Monaghan Harps last Tuesday
night. They play ONeill Shamrocks tonight at 7pm in Kilmore.
Ladies U16s:
Congratulations to the U16 team and management as they booked a place
in the League Final after a hard fought battle against Emyvale. The
Final has been fixed for next Thursday, 6th September against Monaghan
Harps. Exact time and venue is to be confirmed. Good luck girls!
Ladies U14s:
Hard luck to the U14 team who lost out to Emyvale last Monday. This
was their final outing of the year – well done on all the hard work
put in girls, and thanks to Kevin and Majella for all their hard work
throughout the year.
Take The Plunge:
Its here already – the U14, U16 and Minor girls will take the plunge
into a bog hole this Sunday, registration begins at 12.30pm in the
Sliabh Beagh Hotel. A fun 10k walk will take place in order to reach
the big hole, everyone is welcome to take part in this event.
Refreshments will be served afterwards in the Sliabh Beagh Hotel.
