Latton GFC Notes – Week Beginning 30th July 2012

* Senior Football

We played Monaghan at home on Wednesday evening, played in very slippy conditions both teams found scores hard to get. Monaghan got off to a great start scoring 1-1 in the first 5 min, but could only add two more points in the rest of the half. The highlight of the half for Latton was a great goal by O, Duffy just before half time to send them in leading 1-4 to1-3. The Latton players worked hard in the second half and in the end won by 2 pts. Latton 1-9 Monaghan 1-7   Team: & Scorers: S, Farmer. K, Farrelly. K, Duffy. O, Coyle. D, O Brian. P Fitzpatrick. Committee Meeting

A meeting of the Committee will take place Thursday 9th Aug at 9 o’ clock.

Blessing off graves

Our social centre will be open after Blessing off the graves on Sunday 26th Aug for refreshments, this will be an ideal opportunity for families to get together and for visitors to the parish to be shown around the great facilities we have developed over the last number of years. U-8  &  U-1o.

On Thursday evening we had a joint u-8 & u-10 blitz in Drumhowan played in ideal conditions we had a great evening’s football. We would like to thank Drumhowan for their hospitality and a very well organised event. Our next u-8 blitz will take place on 11th Aug.  Training continues Friday evenings from 6 to 7.  Any parents who are not getting text messages about training contact juvenile management.

The late Killian McElroy

The community was in shock following the sudden death of a popular young local man Killian Mc Elory. Killian had just turned 18, and had played juvenile football with the Latton club. We would like to extend our sympathy to his parents Carmel and Eamon, his brothers Darren & Gary, sisters Elaine & Dervla. May he rest in eternal peace.

U-14 

Our next game is away to Emerald Sarsfields on the 11th Aug. training continues as normal.

Race night

We had a great night’s entertainment when horse racing came to our social centre on Sat night. Everyone enjoyed a very well organised event, thank you to all our sponsors and everyone who bought a horse on the night. Congratulations to everyone who won prizes and especially best dressed lady Miriam.

GAA Cul camp

Last week we hosted the Kellogg’s GAA Cul camp, it was great to see so many children in the field enjoying the many activities that were run over the week. Thank you to Colm Malone and his team for providing a great week of sport and entertainment for all the kids.

Our semi-final is to be played on Sat 18th Aug, opposition yet to be confirmed.  Training continues on Tuesday evenings at 6-30.
