Our Under 12s’ made the short journey to Rockcorry last Saturday to play the host club for the Terence Reilly Memorial Shield. This was an action packed thrill a minute game from throw in to final whistle. While every ball was contested with total commitment,the game was played in a sporting manner throughout. Killeevan had the upper hand in the early exchanges and soon built up a sizable lead only to have the Rock lads storm back to cut the deficit to the minimum at the end of the first period.Rockcorry started the second period in the same fashion and were soon 4 points to the good,but the Killeevan boys were not going to go down without a fight and replied with a goal and a couple of points. However this Rockcorry team have not qualified for their League Final by being deterred when they go a couple of points in arrears and they hit back with some well taken points and a real gem of a goal,which was to prove the score that finally put paid to Killeevan’s hope of turning over the hosts on their home patch. While the final whistle brought jubilation for the Rock lads,our young boys and girls can be well proud of the part they played in this thrilling contest which contained an abundance of quality football football from both sides. Following the game the winners were presented with the Reilly Shield by the late Terence’s mother. Medals were then presented to both teams by Monaghan County Minors Fergal McGeough and Lorcan Smyth. The Killeevan club would like to thank Rockcorry for the invitation to play in this game,Pascal Smyth for organizing it,Jimmy McGeough for his words of encouragement and referee Anthony Tate who applied the rules fairly at all times. Finally we wish Rockcorry all the best for their League Final on Sept. 1st. The Killeevan panel on duty were J Corr, E Quigley,A Doherty, M Greenan, B Reilly, O McGinn, A Corley, E Quigley, S O’Grady, C Smith,J Corr, J McGuirk, J McDonnell, J Scott..

Our under 14 Girls narrowly missed out on a victory against Emevale last Tuesday They all put in a huge effort, well done to all the girls but unfortunately we were unlucky this time! Training continues Tuesdays and Friday’s from 6 to 7pm.
