Senior Football Championship:.

On Sunday next. August 26th   at 6.45.p.m. we play Ballybay in the Senior Championship in Clontibret. Ballybay accounted for Monaghan Harps last weekend to set up this quarter final. This will be an extremely tough encounter for us as Ballybay have earmarked the championship having felt that they had left it behind them last year. Best of luck to Declan, Shane and the boys in this unprecedented game. Our future fixtures will depend on the result of this game, so to keep in touch, follow the Monaghan GAA website for definite fixtures. Also these Fixtures will also be posted in the village.

Juvenile and Youth.

Our U14s play Clontibret this Saturday in Clontibret.  U-14 Training takes place every Wednesdsay from 4.15p.m. to 5.30p.m.  Thanks to Declan Smith for his help.

We are hosting the U10 blitz this Saturday 25th August, 10am till 12 noon.  All help and support would be appreciated.

Ladies Football.

Monaghan ladies play in the All Ireland Quarter final in Roscommon on Saturday next 25th at 2.15pm. Their opponents are Mayo and this could be a difficult assignment but I have no doubt that the Monaghan girls will rise to the challenge. Best of luck to Ellen and Laura and all the girls. Please support them if you can.

All Ireland Tickets Raffle

We will know on Sunday evening one of the All Ireland finalists so our draw for 2 All Ireland Football Premium Tickets together with overnight accommodation is getting closer. Tickets / Cards are currently available from committee members. Please support.

Aga Khan Success.

A huge congratulations to Scotshouse man and club supporter Clement Mc Mahon who was inspirational in leading Ireland to a long awaited triumph in the Nations Cup at the Dublin Horse Show last weekend. Currin have availed of Clement’s fine facilities in Hilton View stables for winter training over the years, and we in the club are delighted with his success.

Bereavements.

Margaret Mary Donagho, R.I.P.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of Margaret Mary Donogho, Derrykerrib, Newtownbutler, Co. Fermanagh. We extend our sympathy to her sister Mrs Phylis Mc Cabe, wife of Brian, our long serving and esteemed Treasurer, and to her extended family.

Susan Maguire,R.I.P.

Currin GFC also learned with great sadness of the death of Susan Maguire, Clontarf, Dublin and formerly of Gortnacarrow, Co. Fermanagh. Susan was predeceased by her husband John (Sonny) and her beloved son Patrick. We extend our sympathy to her daughter Betty, sons Eddie, Brendan, Vincent and Gerry. The Maguire family are synonymous with the GAA in Currin, with the Maguire Cup being played each year in memory of Paddy a great club and county supporter. Gerry in particular played with distinction for Currin in the 70’s and 80’s.
