Clontibret Notes

August 22nd, 2012

Clontibret

Senior Championship

We play ‘Blayney in the next round of the senior championship this Saturday evening in Inniskeen at 6.45pm. This is the second game of a double header, Latton play the Harps at 5.15pm. Good luck to all the boys and management.

Senior League

The next game in the senior league is fixed for Sunday, 2nd September at home to Magheracloone at 12.30pm depending on this weekend’s championship result.

Championship Matches

Many thanks to our loyal band of helpers who were kept busy last weekend with three championship games at the field between Friday and Sunday. Another senior championship double header this Sunday will call for the same helpers and more to be present from 4pm.

Reserve League

Last week’s game against ‘Blayney was called off. We have one remaining game to play against Magheracloone and the final league placings will depend on the outcome of this game and the other games in the final round.

Minor Championship

We were beaten by both Scotstown and Carrick last week to end our championship hopes for 2012. The absence of a number of key players meant that we fielded a very young team, most of whom will be minor again next year, where this experience will no doubt stand to them. Well done to the boys on a great year’s work and many thanks to Damien, Brian McArdle and James Coyle for their sterling work with these boys throughout the year.

U14 League

Division 1: We were beaten by a strong Donaghmoyne outfit last week. We are due to play Emyvale at home this Saturday at 1.15pm.

Division 6:  The game against Carrick failed to materialise last weekend. We have a game at home to Currin this Saturday at 12pm.

U16 League Semi-Final

Clontibret 1-11, Carrick 1-13. We put up a great, determined display against Carrick and were very unfortunate not to get at least a draw in this semi-final. The absence of the injured Donal McElvaney was keenly felt and best wishes to Donal for a speedy recovery of his arm injury.

The boys are continuing to train hard for their upcoming championship in a number of weeks.

U12

The u12 final is fixed for Saturday, 1st September against Drumhowan.

U10

Go Games will take place in Clontibret this Saturday at 10am. All players to be at the field at 9.30am sharp. Training continues on Wednesday evenings at 6.30pm. All are welcome to come along.

Under 8s & Nursery

Under 8s and u6 nursery continues on Friday evenings at 6:30pm sharp. All boys and girls welcome. Best wishes to all our players who are returning to school next week, and special mention to our young stars who will start their school journey in Junior Infants.

Senior Hurling

Clontibret 3-18 Truagh 1-08

We had a great win over Truagh in the Shield final. Good performances on the day were from Eoin Mc Guigan, Noel Morgan and David Morgan. We play Carrick in the league tonight (Thurs) in Carrick at 7.15pm
