Seniors: The senior footballers return to league action with a home game against Truagh this Friday at 8pm.

Reserves: The O’Duffy Cup team host Tyholland tomorrow night (Wednesday) and we are away to Magheracloone next Wednesday.

U-21: Our Under-21s fell to a five-point defeat away to Truagh last Sunday. Our lads made a good start and were on top for most of the first half, but the loss through injury of Niall Greenan was a setback and Truagh went on to lead by 2-5 to 0-8 at half-time and 3-10 to 1-11 by the final whistle. Our Under-21s are due to play a quarter-final next Tuesday – check the club’s website and twitter for fixture.

Team: Daniel Duffy; Myles Dwyer, Niall Treanor, Thomas Keelaghan; Dean McMahon, Darren McMahon, Fionntán Cassidy; Aodhán Óg McAnespie, Paul Kelly; Stephen Clerkin, Conor Callan, Michael Galligan; Niall Hahessy, Liam Hahessy, Niall Greenan.

Subs used: Paul Lee, Ahmed Gamal.

Minors: Our minors lost by 2-12 to 2-8 away to Clontibret last Tuesday evening. After conceding an early point, Fearghal McMahon brought our lads level, but Clontibret then struck for two goals in quick succession to take a six-point lead. Fearghal fisted to the net to bring the Harps back into the game and points followed from Kevin Loughran and Michael Galligan, but Clontibret still led by 2-5 to 1-3 at half-time. Fearghal got on the end of a clever free by Michael to fire home his second goal and he quickly added a point, but Clontibret wiped those scores out with four unanswered points. Fearghal hit back with three points in a row (one from a free), but a succession of frees kept Clontibret in control. A free by Fearghal and a point from play by substitute Conor Forde closed the gap late on, but it was too late. The lads have a crucial game at home to Carrickmacross on Tuesday – all support welcome.

Team and scorers: Ryan Shields; Pauric Murphy, Niall Treanor, Turlough Clerkin; Mustafa Gamal, Shane Maguire, Kevin Loughran (0-1); Benin Devlin, Evan Doherty; Brendan McQuaid, Michael Galligan (Capt., 0-1), Paul Byrne; Carl Foentjies, Fearghal McMahon (2-5, 0-2f), Francis Lynch.

Subs: Jason McHugh for Foentjies (inj.), Conor Forde (0-1) for Lynch, Darragh Connolly for Doherty (inj.), Ahmed Gamal for McMahon (inj.).

Temporary Sub: Colm Galligan for Foentjies.

U-16: The Under-16s had a good win at home to Doohamlet last Friday. Goals by Evan Morahan, Tiarnán Bramley, and Mustafa Gamal had our lads up by 3-5 to 1-7 by half-time, despite conceding a goal from a penalty just before the end of the half, and they did enough to close the game out and win by 3-10 to 1-10.

Team: Darragh Hannon; David Lowry, James McKenna, Adam Treanor; Kevin Lyden, John Mulligan, Niall Duffy; Tiarnán Bramley, Ramunas Ramanauskas; Mustafa Gamal, Evan Morahan, Mark Brennan; Thomas Bourke, Ciarán McQuaid, James Owens.

The lads have another two games in the next few days – against Scotstown on Thursday and Doohamlet on Saturday. Both games are away and both throw in at 7pm.

U-14: Our Under-14 Division One footballers had a comprehensive win at home to Emyvale on Monday evening. An evenly-matched first quarter ended with our lads trailing by 1-5 to 1-4, despite a goal by Michael Mulligan and points by Shane McMahon (two), Jack Deery and Conor Duffy. The second quarter made all the difference, as the Harps picked off scores from Shane (1-3), Conor (1-1), Jack (0-4), Ethan Murphy (1-0) Remy McKenna (0-1) to take a 4-13 to 1-11 half-time lead. Remy added two goals and a point in the third quarter, while Shane and Jack kicked two points each to make it 6-18 to 1-11, while the final period saw Nathan O’Donoghue find the net and Conor (three), Shane and Jack hit points to round off an impressive performance make the final score 7-23 to 1-12.

Team and scorers: Cathal Power; Thomas Croarkin, Soky John; Niall Ward, Ultan O’Rourke, Seán McKenna; Paul Peppard, Shane McMahon (1-7, 0-2f); Jack Deery (0-8), Remy McKenna (2-2), Conor Duffy (1-5, 0-1f); Michael Mulligan (1-0), Ben Flynn.

Subs used: Ethan Murphy (1-0), Nathan O’Donoghue (1-0).

The Division Five team lost out to Emyvale by 6-15 to 4-9. Both teams are back out on July 14, away to Scotstown.

U-12: Both Under-12 teams are in action in the coming week. The Division Five side are away to Killeevan for a 12 noon throw-in on Saturday, while the Division One team make the short trip to Scotstown for a 7pm match next Wednesday.

Cúl Camp: We are hosting a Monaghan GAA Kellogg’s Cúl Camp next week (July 9-13). The cost is €55 for one child, €45 for a second child and €40 for additional children. Full details are available on the Monaghan GAA website.

Aido File: A good win for the Under-12 hurlers in their second game of the year. Oisín Power, Seán Conway, Conor McCrystal, Stephen Ward and Shane McCabe all shone on the night. Special mention goes to Patrick ‘goal machine’ McCarron who scored three goals on the night. The Under-14 Féile team represent Monaghan in the All-Ireland competition this weekend. They will be hosted by Skerries Harps and look forward to a great weekend. The team is to meet at 10am in Gavan Duffy Park to get the bus to Dublin! Best of luck to the lads over the weekend. Our joint captains Remy McKenna and Cathal Power will lead them on the pitch and through the Dublin city parade but hopefully away from any dancefloors!
