Cill Laobhain v Buíochar: Away game against Rockcorry on Saturday 23rd June at 12 noon.

Cill Laobhain v Carraig Mhachaire Rois: Home game Monday 11th June .

Another cliff-hanger for the Under 12s’ ended this time in a one point victory over Carraig Mhachaire Rois. Our young team is so far undefeated in the Summer League. They lived on the edge and came from 7 points down to win the game in dramatic fashion. Wet and windy conditions did not deter both of these teams from providing some great fare in the first period. With both defences giving outstanding performances scores were hard to come by and the first break was reached with the teams level in a low scoring encounter. On resumption despite the lions share of possession the Cill Laobhain lads failed to make it show on the scoreboard, and when Carraig took control midway through the period the better accuracy of their forwards soon had them with a commanding lead. It looked bleak for Cill Laobhain at this stage as some good scoring opportunities went a begging. As the game entered it’s final minutes and urged on by the sizable number of home supporters the young Cill Laobhain boys and girls dug deep and somehow got themselves back in contention with two well taken goals. A late Carraig point seemed to have settled the issue but as the game went into injury time the entire Cill Laobhain team with the exception of the goalkeeper poured forward in one last attempt to pilfer the two points on offer. Their never say die attitude paid off when a well worked move finished off with the winning goal as time ran out. These young boys and girls must be commended for never letting their heads drop, even when all seemed lost. Both teams deserve praise for the entertaining hour of football they provided.

Juvenile teams, boys & girls, from Gaoth Dobhair, Co. Donegal will again be visiting Killeevan GFC for friendly games in the month of July. As with their first visit in 2010 our club are asking for members to put these young players up for one night.
