Seniors:
We played Clontibret in the senior football league last Saturday evening in Clontibret. We fielded an understrenght side due to a variety of reasons. We competed well for twenty minutes but when Vinny Corey crashed the ball to the net on the twenty first minute the signs were ominous. With Conor Mac Manus in sparkling form the home side built up an unassailable lead. An insouciant second half goal by Dick Clerkin and excellent performances from Sean Brady and Stephen Beatty in a beleagured defence were small consolation in a comprehensive defeat.
Our next fixture will be the first round of the Senior Championship on Sunday 1st July in Clontibret against Scotstown. Hopefully the couple of weeks rest will give all the injuries a chance to heal.
