St. Mellans Entertainment: This bank holiday Sunday 6th May, the very popular American Pie play in St. Mellans. Enjoy the Monday off work by coming along this Sunday night. Sure to be a good night.

Seniors: We lost away to Carrickmacross in a wind swept evening last Wednesday, 0-12 to 1-11. Playing with a strong breeze in the first half, we didn’t get off to a good start as it was the home side who raced into a 0-4 to 0-1 lead after 13 minutes.  We did however get on top of possession for the remainder of the half, scoring 6 points to Carrick 1, to leave the half time score Carrick 0-5 Truagh 0-7. Christopher McKenna opened the 2nd half scoring in the 32nd minute to increase our lead, but 4 successive points from Carrick between the 39th minute and 44th minute had us behind once again. Paudie McKenna then equalised with a point in the 45th minute. Carrick went ahead again 2 minutes later before we regained the lead with 9 minutes to go after scores from Justin Halligan and Niall McQuillan. The only goal of the game, scored in the 53rd minute, turned-over the lead again after a quick long ball bore fruition for the home side.  Despite Truagh’s Paddy McKenna reducing the margin to just a point, 3 minutes later, it was Carrick who had the ast impact on the scoreboard, scoring a point in injury time to leave the full time result Carrickmacross 1-11 Truagh 0-12. Our team and scorers were: Martin Treanor; John McCarron, Niall Feely, John Treanor; Damian McRory, Aidan Coyle, Justin Halligan; Rory Treanor, Niall McQuillan; Eoghan Kelly, Niall Coyle (0-1), Paudie McKenna (0-2); Christopher McKenna (0-4, 1f, 1×50’), Paddy McKenna (0-1), Gary Todd. We then played at home to Scotstown last Sunday afternoon and bounced back with a 3 point victory. Played against a stiff breeze in the first half, we were behind from the 4th minute when Scotstown opened the scoring with a goal. The visitors added another point before we opened our account with a Chrissy McKenna point in the 9th minute. We continued to have chances in the next quarter but failed to convert while Scotstown increased the margin between the sides to 1-4 to 0-1  with 3 points in the 16th, 17th & 23rd minute.  A late brace of points from Paudie McKenna near the end of the 1st half left us trailing at half time, 0-3 to 1-4. We started the second half in offensive mode, gradually reducing the deficit with scores from Chrissy McKenna (31’, 37’, 48’) and Paudie Treanor (49’) levelling  the game. Scotstown responded in the 53rd minute with their only score of the second half to re-take the lead. However, their lead didn’t last long on this occasion as Chrissy McKenna equalised in the 54th minute before Paudie McKenna converted a free to put us ahead for the first time in the match with 3 minutes remaining. Niall Coyle added another point in the last minute, while sub Mark Couinhan converted a free in the 4th minute of injury time to record our second win of the campaign, 0-11 to 1-5. Our team and scorers were: Ian Treanor; John McCarron, Niall Feely, Aidan Coyle; John Treanor, Damian McRory, Justin Halligan; Pauric Treanor, Niall McQuillan; Niall Coyle (0-1), Rory Treanor, Paudie McKenna (0-4, 3f); Christopher McKenna (0-5, 2f), Neil McRory, Daniel Finnegan.
