Scotstown Notes

Senior League: The Senior team had a mixed weekend, with a win and a defeat. Early goals from McGinnity and Carey set Scotstown up for victory over Currin on Friday evening on a score-line of 3-12 to 0-10. The team was: 1. R Beggan; 2. Duffy, 3. Morgan, 4. E Beggan (0-1); 5. McArdle, 6. Carroll, 7. McPhillips; 8. F Caulfield (c), 9. Turley; 10. Hamill (0-2), 11. Grant, 12. Carey (1-2); 13. McGinnity (2-1), 14. McCague, 15. K Hughes (0-4). Substitutes used: 18. C Treanor (0-2), 25. S Maguire, 17. E Maguire, 20. Sherlock. On Sunday, the team travelled to Ballybay. Both sides struggled with the wet and windy conditions, and quality football was at a premium. Ballybay prevailed in a low scoring encounter by 1-4 to 0-4. 1. R Beggan; 2. Duffy, 3. Morgan, 4. E Beggan; 5. McArdle, 6. Carroll, 7. McPhillips; 8. F Caulfield (c), 9. Turley; 10. Carey, 11. The League campaign takes a short break now, until Wednesday, May 30th when Castleblayney visit Scotstown.

Reserve League Division One: The B team were due to play Magheracloone at home on Wednesday evening in the League. See the results section for the score.

O’Duffy Cup:  The B team are in action again tomorrow night, Friday, May 18th in the Quarter-Final of the O’Duffy Cup. Monaghan Harps are the opposition at Gavan Duffy Park, with a 7.30pm throw-in.

Crawley Cup: Aghabog will be the C team’s opponents in the Quarter-Final of this competition, away on Saturday, May 26th at 7pm.

Recreational Football: The recreational team continue training tonight, Thursday at 7.45pm in Kilmore. New players welcome.

Minors: The Minors lost for the first time this season away to Carrickmacross last week. They played Castleblayney on Tuesday evening in Toome – see results for the score. The lads now take a well-earned break from football until late June to concentrate on their academic commitments.

Under 16’s: Doohamlet conceded last week’s Division One fixture. Emyvale are the next opposition for our A team in a home fixture on Thursday next, May 24th. The B team lost at home to Oram last Thursday, and are in action again tonight, Thursday away to neighbours Éire Óg in Smithborough at 7pm.

Under 12’s: Well done to all the youngsters who took part in the Spring League Finals at Cloghan on Saturday. Carrickmacross got the better of both our A and B teams on the day, so we now look forward to the U12 Summer League season which gets under way on Saturday, May 26th. Under 10’s: Hard luck to our Under 10’s who lost their recent Semi-Final to a strong Donaghmoyne side. Thanks to Donal Ruddy, Niall Foy, Hugh Murray and John Nally for their hard work with this group.

Juvenile Jerseys: Can anyone who has been involved with under-age teams in recent years have a search for a set of white Scotstown juvenile jerseys. If anyone locates them, please contact John Meehan on             087-9081867      .

Ciste: The yearly subscriptions are due for renewal – promoters will be collecting same in the coming weeks. Anyone interested in availing of the yearly subscription, please contact Treasurer Eugene McKenna, or any committee member for more details.

Congratulations: Well done to Niall McCarville who finished 13th in the Intercounties Sprint Triathlon held at Hollywood, Co. Monaghan recently.

Come Dine With An Bhoth: A reminder that next Saturday, May 26th sees Come Dine With Me come to the parish! There is great excitement building as we count down to Come Dine With Me An Bhoth style – if you haven’t booked your seat at anyone’s table, then contact any committee member and they will point you in the right direction. If you are unable to make the dining, then come along for the dancing in the Complex with music by Jokers Wild, followed by DJ. Admission €10.

Bar Rota: Sean McKenna and Kevin Boylan will be on duty at the weekend.

Ladies Notes:

Congratulations: Well done to the Senior Monaghan ladies team on their National League Final triumph against Cork last weekend. Congratulations also to the County Under 14 team who had a great victory over Tyrone in the Ulster Final last Sunday. Well done to our club representatives Megan Boylan, Celine Nally and Brianán Sherry.

Senior Ladies: Training continues every Tuesday and Thursday at 7.30pm in Kilmore. All players should be in Kilmore no later than 7.15pm. The girls are in action this Saturday against Donaghmoyne at 7pm in Scotstown.

Minor Ladies: Training continues every Monday and Thursday at 7.30pm in Kilmore. All players should be in Kilmore no later than 7.15pm.

Ladies U16’s: Training continues every Monday and Thursday at 7.30pm in Kilmore. All players should be at Kilmore no later than 7.15pm. The girls take on Carrickmacross in Scotstown tonight, Thursday at 7pm.

Ladies U14’s: Training continues every Thursday night at 6.30pm at Kilmore. Well done to Kevin and the girls on their victory over local rivals Truagh last Monday.

Ladies U10’s: Training continues every Monday at 6.30pm at Kilmore. Anyone interested in helping out with coaching the Under 10’s please feel free to come along.

Ladies Club Registration: A reminder that registration is now overdue. All players should pay their registration fee directly to management as soon as possible. The fees are €50 for Seniors and €35 for Under 18’s. The final day for registration is Friday, May 25th at 7.30pm in Kilmore.
