Scotstown Notes

Senior League:

It will be a busy weekend for the Seniors this weekend, with a home game against Currin this Friday, May 11th with a 7.30pm start. Then, on Sunday they make the trip to Pearse Park for a game against the Ballybay Pearse Brothers at 4pm.

ODuffy Cup:

Our B team had a good win away at Carrickmacross last Friday evening.
Scotstown were the better side for the majority of the game, with Elliot Maguire leading the scoring with a haul of 1-2. Scotstown team:
C Mohan; Mark Corrigan, W Carroll (c), D Caulfield; F Treanor, F McPhillips, B McMeel (0-1); David McCague, S Sherry (0-1); S Rice, P Grant (0-2), S Maguire; O Heaphey (0-2), J Hamill (0-4), E Maguire (1-2). Substitutes used: R McKenna, P Sherlock, D McNally, A Carbin, C Caulfield. The team are due to play Magheracloone next Wednesday, May 16th in the League. It will be a home fixture, throwing in at 7.45pm.
The Quarter-Final of the ODuffy Cup takes place two days later on Friday, May 18th where we have been drawn against Monaghan Harps at Gavan Duffy Park.

Recreational Football:

The recreational team continue training on Thursday nights at 7.45pm in Kilmore. New players welcome.

Minors:

The Minors fell to their first defeat of the season away to Carrickmacross on Tuesday evening in League Division One. The final score was Carrickmacross 2-16 Scotstown 3-8. They play Castleblayney in Toome next Tuesday, May 15th at 7.30pm.

Under 16s:

The Division One side face Doohamlet away on Thursday evening, May 10th at 7pm. The B team lost out to Corduff away last week, and are also in action on Thursday night with a home game against Oram at 7pm.

Under 14s:

Congratulations to our talented Under 14 panel who qualified for this year’s Féile with a convincing win in the Championship Final at Truagh on Sunday last. Emyvale battled hard, but couldn’t live with the pace and skill of a strong Scotstown side, who eventually ran out winners by 6-18 to 1-3. The Scotstown team was: Darragh McCague; Colum Claisse, Ben McDevitt (0-1), Pádraig Meehan; Jamie McKenna, Lorcan Murray (0-1), Ronan King; James Sherry (Captain) (1-0), Ruairi McKenna (0-1); Conor Mallon (2-1), Adrian Grew (1-5), Fergal Sherlock (1-0); Jack Mohan (1-0), Leonard McDermott (0-6), Eanna Deery (0-1).
Subsitutes: Tiárnan McGonnell (0-2), Cillian Sherry, Conor Creighan, James McCague, Mark Mohan. Well done also to the management team of Gary McQuaid, John Meehan and Paddy Sherlock on their good work with this panel of players.

Under 12s:

Our A and B teams travel to Cloghan for the Spring League Finals on Saturday – best of luck to all involved!

Scrappage Day:

The recreational footballers are holding a Scrappage Day on Saturday, May 12th to raise funds for the club. All types of scrap metal and electrical appliances welcome. Home collection available if required.

Come Dine With An Bhoth:

Our latest fundraiser is based on the popular TV show ‘Come Dine With Me’. We are looking for people to host a fun evening on Saturday 26th May by inviting family and as many friends as you know to your house for dinner. If you fancy yourself as a bit of a Jamie or Gordon please contact any committee member.

Conversational Irish:

Continues on Tuesday evenings at 8.30pm in the Social Club at the Complex.

Bar Rota:

Michael Owen McMahon and Paul Carey will be on duty at the weekend.

Sympathy:

The club extends sympathy to the family and friends of the recently deceased, including Pauline Rose Treanor (nee McCabe), Derrilla and John Hurson, Smithborough.

Senior & Minor Ladies:

Training continues every Monday and Thursday at 7.15pm in Kilmore. All players should be in Kilmore no later than 7pm. No Senior game this
weekend.

Ladies U16s:

The girls had a great victory over Monaghan Harps last week in the League. Well done to Sinead, Lisa, Martin and the girls. Training
continues every Monday and Thursday at 7.15pm in Kilmore. All players should be at Kilmore no later than 7pm.

Ladies U14s:

Training continues every Thursday night at 6.30pm at Kilmore.

Ladies U10s:

Training continues every Monday at 6.30pm at Kilmore. Anyone
interested in helping out with coaching the Under 10’s please feel
free to come along.

Ladies Club Registration:

A reminder that registration is now overdue. All players should register as soon as possible. The fees are €50 for Seniors and €35 for Under 18’s.
