Seniors: The senior footballers fell to a 1-18 to 0-10 defeat at home to Carrickmacross last Wednesday. Points by Dean Fanning, Donal Hahessy and Gary White had our lads a point up after ten minutes and Dean added another brace to make it 0-5 to 0-3 by the end of the first quarter. Carrick hit the next four points to lead by two, but frees by Donal and Dean levelled it up at 0-7 each at half-time. Shane Smyth edged the Harps ahead in the first minute of the second half, but Carrick dominated the closing stages after finding the net from a penalty. Points from subs Emmett McArdle and Nicholas Treanor were our only scores of the last 20 minutes, allowing Carrick to pull away.

Team and scorers: Mark Hughes, Gareth Treanor, Stephen Driver, Paul Rushe; Nicholas Scott, Conor Galligan, David Hughes; Neil McAdam (Capt.), Peter Coyle; Gary White (0-1), Shane Smyth (0-1), Shane Coyle; Donal Hahessy (0-2, 1f), Paddy Connolly, Dean Fanning (0-4, 2f).

Subs: Emmett McArdle (0-1) for G Treanor (inj., 24 mins), Liam Hahessy for Fanning (40), Nicholas Treanor (0-1f) for P Coyle (42).

The seniors have a very busy weekend, with games at home to Castleblayney this Friday at 7.30pm and away to Magheracloone on Sunday at 2pm.

Reserves: We battled through a hard-hitting O’Duffy Cup first round game away to Doohamlet last Friday. We started well, with points from David Loughran, Gary White (two) and Liam Hahessy and although Doohamlet rallied to take narrow lead, scores from David, Dean Fanning and Gary had us ahead by 0-7 to 0-5 at half-time. Two points from Nicholas Treanor and one from David got us off to a bright start in the second half, but Doohamlet pegged us back with a goal. We found another gear, though, with Nicholas hitting a couple of well-taken points and Liam grabbing a late brace to make the final score 0-15 to 1-8. The draw for the quarter-finals was made on Tuesday – check our website/twitter.

Team and scorers: Conall McKenna; Robbie Moyna, Paddy Kelly, Johnny Sherry; Niall Greenan, Paul Rushe, Pat Murphy; Gary White (Capt., 0-3f), Ronan Garvey; Paul Kelly, Nicholas Treanor (0-5, 1f), Gary Murray; David Loughran (0-3), Dean Fanning (0-1), Liam Hahessy (0-3).

Subs: Niall Hahessy for Fanning (inj.), Conor Devlin for Paddy Kelly.

The Crawley Cup team have two league games this week – away to Emyvale on Saturday and at home to Aghabog on Wednesday.

Minors: The minors take on Castleblayney at home tonight Tuesday, before hosting Killanny next Tuesday.

U-16: The Under-16 footballers are away to Emyvale this Thursday at 7pm. The lads had a useful challenge match last week, when they produced an improved second-half performance to get the better of Carrickmacross.

U-14: Our Under-14 Division Five team had a good win at home to Scotstown last Thursday. Michael Mulligan stole the show with a hugely impressive performance up front, but this was a real team effort by the lads. The next games for our U-14s are on Saturday week (May 19).

Team and scorers: Ryan McKenna; Anthony Greenan, Jordan Clerkin, Soky John (0-2); Kelvin Cawley (0-1), Dylan McAree; Nathan O’Donoghue (0-2), Aaron Coyle, Michael Mulligan (5-1).

Subs used: Seán McKenna (1-2), Zach Mallon (1-0), Adam O’Neill, Seán Conway, Colin Peppard

U-12: Both Under-12 teams are in action in the Spring League Finals in Cloghan this Saturday. Our second team play Castleblayney at 11am and our first team also take on Blayney at 12 noon. Good luck to Chris Conway, Finbarr Conlon, Declan McArdle, Jimmy Croarkin, Pauric Callan and all involved.

Congratulations: To our own Brendan and Ciarán McQuaid, Conor Burns and team trainer Alan Ryan who completed a double when they won the Ulster Minor Hurling Shield Final against Fermanagh in Clones last Wednesday.

Pitches: We would like to ask all club members, mentors and players to remember to take good care of the pitches now that they are in high demand. Team managers are asked to note that the floodlights should not be used between May 1 and September 1 to make use of the extra daylight and that pitch bookings must go through Jimmy Croarkin at 087 1249635.

Referees/Umpires: Anyone interested in helping our club referee Hugh McKenna by umpiring at club matches is asked to contact Hugh or any committee member. Also, we encourage anyone who wants to follow in Hugh’s footsteps by taking up the whistle to get in touch.

Old Gavan Duffy photos: If anyone has any photos of the last senior men’s game at the old Gavan Duffy Park in Latlurcan against Burren in 1992, please contact any committee member.

Aido file: Congratulations to the U-14 hurlers on winning the championship and qualifying for the Féile this summer in Dublin. It was an all-round team performance with a strong back-line lead by Seán Grant supported from all sides, Paul Peppard and Cathal Power in midfield working hard supporting every play and forwards like Conor Duffy and Remy McKenna out in front attacking the opposition. Ryan Connolly in the full-forward line led our push for silverware by scoring 1-1. Well done to Mark Murphy and Ben Kierans-Flynn leaving their sick beds to play the final! Co-captains Remy McKenna and Cathal Power then lifted the trophy in front of a large, cheering crowd.

Team and scorers: Cillian Sherry; John Lowey, Conor Duffy, Dylan McAree; Niall McManus, Seán Grant, Thomas Croarkin; Paul Peppard, Cathal Power (Joint-Capt., 1-6, 1-2f, 0-1 ’65); Mark Murphy, Remy McKenna (Joint-Capt., 0-1), Nathan O’Donoghue; Ryan Connolly (1-1), Andrew Connolly, Conor Doyle.

Subs: Niall Ward for Doyle, Ben Kierans-Flynn for O’Donoghue, James Bourke for A Connolly.

Rest of panel: Aidan Burns, Anthony Greenan, Seán McKenna, Oisín Power, Seán Conway, Shane McCabe, Jordan O’Connor.

Talk Sport for Shauna: Well done to everyone involved in organising this fundraiser, which was a great night at the Hillgrove Hotel last Sunday and raised money for a very worthy cause.
