Corduff Notes

Under 12 Spring League final: Last Saturday the rain stayed off when we took on Tyholland in the Spring League final in Cloghan. This team has put in great performances all year and on Saturday was no different. Jordan Mc Garrell opened the scoring for Corduff after some help from Jamie King, Dylan Finnegan extended Corduff lead after some good play coming from Mark Keenan and Cian Callan. Tyholland responded with a point before  Dylan Finnegan added 2 points and after a combination of brilliant play from Jarred Wenham, Jamie King slotted over another point leaving the score Corduff 0-05 to 0-01 with 11 minutes gone in the first third. Then Tyholland scored 2 unanswered points before Dearbhla Callan won a free and played a quick ball to Dylan who finished the scoring before the break leaving the score Corduff 0-06 Tyholland 0-04. Corduff again opened the scoring and held the lead thanks to some good defending from Conal Reynolds and a brilliant goal save from James Walsh this helped Corduff extend their lead to 0-05 to 0-08. Tyholland did go and bring the lead back to a point before points from Jamie King and Dylan Finnegan left the score after the second third 0-12 to Tyholland 0-10.  In the Third quarter Linus Pavqlous and Ryan King came on, the sides exchanged scores in the closing stages. Corduff were then presented with their medals by Noel Duffy.

Well Done: To Declan Callan, Peter Mc Garrell, Gareth King and the entire Under 12 squad for your work so far this year and in winning you spring zone. We look forward to the start of the league.

Well Done  To Monaghan Ladies team on their magnificent victory last Saturday and especially to Corduff’s  contingent Laura Mc Enaney and Barbara Ward. This was a brilliant achievement for these girls.

Corduff V Rockcorry: Last Friday we welcomed Rockcorry to Corduff. Shane Mc Nally Jnr opened the scoring after 2 minutes by the 5th minute the sides were level after a Rockcorry free. Raymond Byrne again put Corduff ahead before the sides were level again the 7th minute. Points from Shane Mc Nally Jnr, Shane Malone, Brendan Mc Nally and Martin Mills left the score at Corduff 0-07 to 0-02 after 30 min. The visitors did hit the back of the Corduff net in the 4th minute of injury time leaving the score line Corduff 0-07 to Rockcorry 1-02 at half time. Corduff lead was reduced to a point a minute into the second half before Noel Crossan brought the lead back to 2 points, Rockcorry responded with a point from a free, 2 points from Declan Larkin extended Corduff  lead. The game ended with us coming out victorious on a score line Corduff 0-10 Rockcorry 1-05.

Corduff V Aughnamullen: On Sunday in very windy conditions we made the short visit to Aughnamullen. Corduff got off to the best possible start when Martin Mills hit the back of the Aughnamullen net, the home side responded with a point before Shane Malone added a point before he hit the back of the net scoring Corduff 2nd goal of the day leaving the score line Corduff 2-01 to 0-01, the home side scored two unanswered points before Declan Larkin combined with Shane Mc Nally Jnr to leave the half time score Corduff 2-02 Aughnamullen 0-04.  The wind got stronger in the second half Martin Mills added a point in the 5th minutes, Aughnamullen added 3 frees in the closing stages and left the final score at Corduff 2-03 Aughnamullen 0-07

O Duffy Cup: This Sunday we take on Castleblaney in the next round of the O Duffy Cup. The game is in Oram with a 2pm throw in. Please come along and support.
Senior Fixtures: Our game against Toome this Friday has been postponed until Wednesday the 6th June. The following Sunday the 10th of June when we travel to Tyholland for a 12 noon throw in.

Reserve League: Our next game is on 23rd of May when we take on Doohamlet at home with a 7.45 throw in.  Then on Friday 25th we welcome Donaghmoyne to Corduff with a  7.45 throw in

Minor Football League; Last Tuesday 8th we took on St Pats at home, this was a brilliant game with Corduff putting in a great team performance full of guts, determination and passion for their jersey. Last Tuesday 15th we took on St Tiernachs. We are then on a break due to the leaving certificate we then take on Inniskeen on the 28th June.

Under 14 Fixtures: This Saturday we take on Sean Mc Dermotts at home with a noon throw in.

Under 16: Our game against Rockcorry was postponed last Thursday due to the Rockcorry pitch being unplayable. Tonight Thursday we take on Killeevan away at 7pm. Then on the 24th we also travel to Oram.

Our u6,u8,u10 training continued last Saturday morning with a great turnout. We are gearing up to our first go game outing. If there is any other children out there who would like to join and have a bit of fun and activity you can attend Saturday morning at 10am-to11.15am.

All Roads lead to Cloghan this Sunday where all Gaels have a chance to meet our 2012  Senior Ladies National League Champions & Our Senior Footballers ahead of their Championship 2012 Opener Against Antrim 27 May in Clones. Our Senior players are available to meet & greet all Gaels as well as opportunity for Photographs – Autographs. There will also be Juvenile skills challenge competitions with prizes. Come along and meet the Farney Army, don’t forget your camera, all Gaels welcome !!!
