Emyvale GAA Club Notes for Thursday 5th April

JFL Round 1: Drumhowen 2-07 V Emyvale 2-10

Our senior team played their first game of the league this weekend and hit the ground running and a good victory away from home against Drumhowen.

We performed well in the first half with some good play from James Mc Allister who combined well with a particularly sharp and on-form Martin Mc Aree who notched up a 2-06.

Emyvale Team: Gerard Mc Caffery, Ciaran Connelly, Jonathon Morragh, Sean Mc Meel, David Gilbane, John Flannery, Greg Devlin, Darren Mc Kernan, John Thomas Treanor, James Bellew, James Mc Allister(0-02), David Bellew, Martin Mc Aree(2-06), Paul Mc Carron(0-01), Daniel Mc Mohan(0-01).Subs Used: Gavin Mc Kernan, Thomas Doody, Robbie Mc Hugh, Patrick Mc Carron.

Scor: As mentioned last week Our Set Dance team and Ballad Group travelled to Derry City on Saturday 24th March, to compete in the Ulster Scor Final. Emyvale were one of only four clubs to have two acts participate at Provincial level. There were mixed emotions on the night when our Set Team tripped the light fantastic and stepped their way to another All Ireland Final but alas our Ballad Group narrowly missed out to Aghagallon from Antrim.

There was fierce competition in all categories on the night and it is testament to the time and effort that is put in by all of the Scor groups to compete at such a high level year on year. So we now make our way to Killarney for the All Ireland Final on April 21st – a wonderful achievement considering this is the fourth year in a row that this team will compete.

Our thanks to all those who travelled to Derry to support both teams it is very much appreciated by everyone involved. Our commiserations to our Ballad Group, you represented club and county in an excellent manner and your performance was indeed ‘gorgeous and Bright’.

Annual lotto: The Club would like to thank all those who continued to support the Club’s annual lotto for the past year. Promoters will be out selling tickets again for the upcoming year in the next couple of weeks. Your support for this would be greatly appreciated.
