Doohamlet GFC Notes

I.F.L. Seniors:   Doohamlet opened their league account on Wednesday evening last with a local derby against Cremartin at O’Neill Park.  After a scrappy opening period Doohamlet took control and with Ted Duffy and Paul McArdle punishing the Cremartin defence from free kicks the home side never looked in danger.

A fine flowing move which began with goalkeeper James Casey and expertly finished by Ted Duffy proved to be the only goal of the game and saw the home side go in at the break 1-04 to 0-01.  A brief period of pressure from Cremartin in the third quarter made no inroads on the solid Doohamlet defence and further scores from Ted Duffy, Paul McArdle and Mark Murphy saw the home side record a comfortable 1-08 to 0-03 victory.

I.F.L. Seniors:   Aughnamullan  2-10  Doohamlet 1-12

After our impressive first victory it was back to earth with a bump on Sunday last when we travelled to Aughnamullan and somehow came away with no league points when both seemed to have been secured.  Leading by three points going into injury time the home side made a late surge and with the conversion of a penalty and a late point the Aughnamullan salvaged a one point victory.

Our defense once again were strong throughout and with Greg Duffy on top of his game at midfield supplied ample ball to our forwards.

Some excellent passages of play resulted in fine scores and with eight different names on the scoreboard  Doohamlet management can be pleased with our forward play.  Doohamlet must regroup for our next game against Corduff at home on Sunday next at 2pm and get their league campaign back on track.
