Sunday was a great day for Monaghan on the inter-county scene, with three teams picking up vital wins in the national leagues. Monaghan returned to winning ways in the Allianz National Football League Division Two on a scoreline of 2-24 to 1-15 in Clones, while Mattie Lennon’s 100% start as hurling manager continued with a 0-16 to 0-11 win away to Fingal in the Allianz National Hurling League Division 3A. Meanwhile, Monaghan took a big step towards qualifying for the Bord Gáis Ladies National Football League Division One semi-finals with a 0-12 to 0-6 victory over Tyrone.

The minor hurlers began their Ulster Minor Hurling League Division Two campaign on Saturday with a 1-14 to 4-5 draw away to Fermanagh.

Castleblayney exited the Quinn’s Corner Ulster Club Senior Football League at the semi-final stage on Saturday when they lost to Killybegs by 1-9 to 1-6 after extra-time.

 

Platinum-Tanks-Limited

Tyholland and Truagh shared the spoils in the only game in the Platinum Tanks Reserve Football League Division One over the weekend, while there wins for Inniskeen and Emyvale at the expense of Aughnamullen and Scotstown respectively in Division Two. In Division Four, Éire Óg cruised past Fergal O’Hanlons and Killanny got a walkover from Monaghan Harps
