Handball:

Ulster Championships. Hard luck to Christopher Mc Kenna(PJ) on losing his Ulster Junior “B” Singles Final, up against probably the favourite in Brendan Herron from Antrim Christopher lost 21-17, 21-4 and if only he had closed out the first game who knows what would have happened. This was a very hard hitting game and this took its toll on Christopher as mistakes where made in the second game and he got punished severally for doing so, but its all a learning curve and hope to see you back next year and finish it off, well done Christopher. But no time to rest as Christopher & Eamon play their Junior “B” Doubles final this weekend on February the 25th also 2pm venue TBC. Texts will be sent out as to venue.

Juveniles County Doubles. Yet another busy day of handball took place last Sunday in both St.Mellans and Scotstown. We hosted U12, U13 and the U14 Grades. In the U12 we had semi-finalist’s in Gary Mc Kenna & Cormac Mc Kenna and by all accounts could have made the final but not to be. In the U13 we have a pairing made the final in Ryan Mohan & Finbar Mc Ginn and almost an all club affair but Shane Mc Kenna & Kalum Mc Kenna were defeated in the other semi in U13’s, concluding the Mellans end of business we have an all club U14 final where Jamie Sherlock & Ciaran Rafferty take on Gary Mc Kenna & James Mc Kenna well done boys. Meanwhile up in Scotstown in the U15 we had semi-finalists in Pearce Mc Kenna & Mathew Flood, but in the U16 another Flood took a step closer where Noel Flood and cousin Daniel Mc Kenna will contest the U16 final. In the U17 we still have a semi to play where Aaron Murray & Ryan Treanor must meet a Tydavnet pairing to see who faces the Hughes twins in the final, good luck to all concerned. Finals are fixed for the 4th of March but will be confirmed next week.

Ulster Juveniles. We had hard luck in the U15 county grade in where we had Gary Treanor representing the county, this was very much a game that was left behind and nobody more than Gary knows this after losing the first game 18-21 Gary got his game together and won the second 21-13 but narrowly lost the tie-breaker 9-11, hard luck Gary but well done on getting where you got and hopefully next year learn from mistakes and go that step more.

County Adult Singles Finals. The remaining finals that we have representatives in will all be played on the 25th of February in St.Mellans the Nov4 & Nov3, the Junior final probably will now be re-fix as Christopher plays in the Ulster Doubles Final.

Adult County Doubles. A list of the adult county doubles from Nov4 up to Senior are on the notice board in St.Mellans, please all check their fixtures as not to miss any games thank you.

Adult Club Championships. The club singles and doubles are nearing Semi-final stages but a few outstanding games are still to be played, please get all un-played games sorted ASAP.

Juvenile Club Leagues. Still on going the leagues are starting to take shape now but it not too late to make that 4th spot boys and girls so keep at it, remember write all results in and mark of games coaches. Some suggested the rule to give 5 serves each to each player time about with both players able to score points either serving or receiving this would make sure all get ball action, we leave it up to each coach.

Prize Draw. We will be approaching club members if they would be interested in buying a ticket for the handball council, there are some brilliant prizes for the individuals and also for the club, all will be explained before purchasing.
