Handball:

So far this year the Tydavnet Handball Club is making a big splash in the Adult Championships. Already the Novice Two title has been claimed by Paul Cassidy when he defeated fellow clubman Cormac in the Final. Brendan Finan has made the Junior Final by defeating St Mellan’s John Treanor on Sunday night last. He will now meet another Truagh player, Christopher Pat John in the Junior Final, and win or lose he will be promoted to the Senior grade for next season. In the Novice Three grade, Kevin McCague has also made the Final where he will play St Mellan’s Patrick McKenna. Kevin is already assured of Novice 2 handball in the year ahead. In the Minor Final, Sean Mohan takes on former world champion Darren Doherty from Emyvale. He will be hoping that he can bring his A game to the match, as Doherty is one of the top players on the national and international circuit. Finally, it looks like we may also have David Treanor in the Novice 4 Final where he would meet Frank McKenna, but this depends on the result of an appeal at County Board level. The Novice 4, Novice 3, Junior and Minor Final have been provisionally booked for St Mellan’s on Saturday, February 25th with start times to be finalised.

Juvenile Handball:

The three sections of the juvenile leagues are progressing well and following are the groups: Group 1 players are Ronan King, Mark Mohan, Conor McMahon, Lorcan Deery, James Sherry, Liam McCague, Darragh McCague, Killian Sherry, Ronan Clerkin and Eanna Deery.
