All roads lead to the Westenra Arms this Saturday night for the clubs’ Presentation function. During the past week it was confirmed that Gerry McQuaid, trainer of the Wexford double All-Ireland winning camogie teams -Senior and Intermediate – will present the awards to all our recipients. This is a great honour for the club and it is hoped that a large crowd will acknowledge the presence of such a renowned trainer. A buffet meal followed by presentations to our U-14, U-16, senior club, county players and ‘Senior Player of the Year’ will precede dancing to ‘Tiger Named Alf’. Tickets are selling well – but don’t leave it too late to book yours as numbers must be confirmed with the hotel!

There was a good turn-out at our Registration night ably chaired by Shauna, our new Cathaoirleach. Parents heard of the importance of the Code of Ethics being implemented at all times in order to ensure a safe and fun environment where their daughters can learn the skills of the game, the benefits of teamwork and the importance of fair-play. The role and responsibility of the club officials, coaches, players and parents in respect of safe-guarding children was outlined. Parents then registered their daughters for the season ahead following which there was a draw for a club hoodie – won by Ríoghnach Duffy! Thanks to all those who attended.

Many thanks also, to all those who supported our clothes collection last week.

On Monday next the monthly County Board meeting takes place in Monaghan at 8pm. Senior players are asked to indicate their availability to attend.

Training for our younger members continues each Tuesday at 6pm in the Community Centre while ‘Mum without Me’ continues on Saturday at 4pm. Senior training takes place at the usual time on Friday evening – and Aidan has advised players  not to bother with the ‘fake tan’  until after training!! Sounds ominous.

Training took place last week to the beat of lively music coming from the direction of Lisglasson. Unconfirmed reports had it that there was a 16th birthday party taking place! No doubt the social diarist will fill us in next week!!
