Clontibret Camogie News.

Tickets have gone on sale for the Club’s forthcoming Presentation Function on Sat, Mar 3rd in the Westenra Arms Hotel. The event will comprise a buffet meal, presentation of medals and dancing to Tiger Named Alf. Tickets are being distributed to all players at present and already there is good interest even from people not connected to the club at all, which is a promising sign!! So don’t delay- book your ticket now from Marie, Nora, Catherine or Geraldine.

Monaghan Sports Partnership is holding a very important Child Protection course in the Iontas Centre Castleblayney on Thurs Feb 16th commencing at 6.30 sharp. Places are limited and must be booked by contacting their office in Ballybay on 042/9755126.

Club registration night for all under-age players takes place on Tues, Feb 21st upstairs in the Community Centre at 8pm. Registration fee is €10 and parents will be given a short presentation on the Code of Ethics in camogie and Safe-guarding children practices in the club.

There is an excellent attendance at the under-age training taking place each Tuesday evening in the Community Centre from 6 – 7pm. Many thanks to those who help out – Marie, Shauna and Linda.

Mum without Me!’ got underway on Saturday afternoon last at 4pm in the Community Centre and what an enthusiastic bunch they proved to be!! With a yellow card having to be issued during their first small-sided game it is clear that the seniors could have some serious opposition if it’s challenges they’re looking for!! Please note this activity will take place outdoors for the next two Saturdays due to the unavailability of the Centre. So if you fancy some healthy exercise in the fresh air, head on down to the pitch at 4pm.

Senior training commences on Fri Feb 17th at 7.30pm. New and lapsed members welcome!!

Many thanks to Catherine and Marie Greenan who, along with Club Cathaoirleach, Shauna McElvaney, attended the County Board meeting on Monday evening. Indeed the girls showed their commitment to the game and its development in the county with Catherine taking the position of Assistant Treasurer and Clontibret delegates assuming the role of ‘Recording Secretary’ at Board meetings. Well done! There will be much delight at the re-appointment of Maretta Sherry as County PRO, Ann McKenna as delegate to Ulster Council and Teresa Lam as Vice-Chairman of the Board.

A Fixtures Sub-Committee meeting will be held in the Glencarn Hotel at 8pm on Monday next at which the fixtures for 2012 will drawn up for ratification at the March meeting. Dympna Kerr is Clontibret’s representative on this Committee.
