Monaghan Harps notes (January 17)

Monaghan Harps Lotto: Numbers 3, 15, 16 and 25. Jackpot of €2,800 not won. Charity match presentation: The presentation of the cheques from our recent charity match takes place in the clubhouse at Gavan Duffy Park this Sunday at 9.30pm. Everyone who took part in the match is invited to come along and all club members are also more than welcome. Any outstanding sponsorship money can be returned to Owen Connell before Sunday.

Dates to remember: We will host Monaghan Arch Club at Gavan Duffy Park on Thursday, February 23. Our annual juvenile presentation night has been set for Saturday, February 25 in the clubhouse. Club Officer training for Monaghan has been fixed for St. Macartan’s College on Saturday, March 10. The Senior Football League is due to start on Wednesday, April 11, with the reserve leagues beginning in early-to-mid March. Our Saturday-morning juvenile coaching is due to restart on March 24.

Aido file: All Hurling Club members are informed that the AGM takes place this Friday in the Gavan Duffy complex at 8pm. See you all there! 

 

Annual awards: The annual Monaghan GAA Awards night takes place in the Hillgrove Hotel next Friday, January 27. Tickets are on sale at a cost of €30 and can be purchased from County Board Assistant-Secretary Anita Finnegan (086 6679440). Our hurlers will receive a special youth achievement award on the night and Conor McDonnell will be presented with the Handballer of the Year award.

 

Membership: Membership fees for 2012 can now be paid to registrar Maurice Galligan c/o Cosy Bar or to Liadhan Treanor in the clubhouse. Fees are €20 per adult, €10 per child or €50 for a family of two adults and any number of children.

Scór: Everyone involved in Scór was commended at last Thursday’s meeting for their excellent efforts on behalf of the club in the recent past. Next up is Scór Sinsear, where we intend to enter a quiz team, musicians, singers and a sketch group. If interested, please contact Cultural Officer Gerard Clerkin on 086 8535992.

 

Main Pitch: Club members are reminded that the main pitch is closed until March 1 for essential rest and repair work. All pitch bookings for training sessions and matches this year must go through Jimmy Croarkin, who can be contacted at 087 1249635.

 

Votes of sympathy: At last Thursday’s monthly meeting, votes of sympathy were passed to the families of Owen McCooey, John Hetherington, James Dolan, Una McGarry and Kay Treanor. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamacha.

 

Yearbooks: We still have a couple of Official Monaghan GAA Yearbooks available, costing €10, so if you haven’t got one yet, you can get in touch with Lorcan McAdam or Liadhan Treanor.
