The GAA can confirm that there are 126 internships currently on offer under the Association’s JobBridge Internship Scheme with 13 people already engaged with the initiative.
 
JobBridge is a new National Internship Scheme that will enable organisations to provide unemployed individuals with work experience placements for a six or nine month period.
 
The GAA is taking part in this scheme and aims to provide meaningful internships, which will provide unemployed individuals with the opportunity to develop and enhance their skills in a practical working environment for the first time, or, indeed, to upgrade skills that they have already acquired through previous employment.
 
The GAA/JobBridge Internship Scheme is focusing on the areas of Games Development and Administration and an intern may apply for a placement with a department in Croke Park, Provincial Councils and County Boards.
 
Phase three of the scheme is currently being advertised on www.jobbridge.ie and on the GAA website, www.jobbridge.gaa.ie. In conjunction with the initiative, the GAA may be able to offer up to 200 internships, at any one time.
 
Examples of internships advertised include:
 
Games Development Administration Assistants – working with a County Games Manager (GM).
 
Games Development Project Coordinators – working with a Games Development Administrator (GDA).
 
Urban/Club Development Project Coordinators – working in a specific urban area or Club with a GDA.
 
Third/Second Level Project Coordinator.
 
There are also a number of Administration internships available in the areas of IT, Marketing and Promotions and Fixtures Programming.
 
 
 
Pat Daly of the GAA’s JobBridge Steering Committee said: ‘Given the economic climate it is vital that young people get an opportunity to enhance their training and development by experiencing the practical realities of a work environment. The GAA/JobBridge scheme provides such an opportunity and will be of assistance to interns in their search for future employment.”
