Special Merit Award.

At the recently held County Convention, there was a pleasant surprise in store when Currin Sons of Saint Patick were announced as winners of the Special Merit Award. Among the previous winners of this prestigeous award were the surviving members of the 1956 Monaghan Team and Liam Mc Grath of Castleblayney Faughs fame. Being the oldest club in the county celebrating our 125th  anniversary and gaining promotion to Senior ranks obviously influenced the awarding panel. Currin will be delighted to accept this award on behalf of all members and players, past and present.

Mrs Agnes Mc Entee

Congratulations to Mrs Agnes Mc Entee who celebrated her 90th Birthday among her family and friends on Saturday last. The Mc Entee family are synonymous with all that is good about the GAA in Currin, and it was equally fitting that this celebration was held in the Community Centre where her family have had a major involvement.

Co Monaghan Year Book

Monaghan Co Board have this year produced their own Year Book. It is an excellent, hard backed production and should not be confused with other profit seeking publications. It includes a rare photo of our fleet footed, forward star Stephen Smyth and that alone is worth the purchase price of €10. This venture is highly commendable and worthy of our support. No doubt in the future, the ‘typos’ will be eliminated with proper proof reading – know what I mean, Darren, our Reserve team manager.
