ROCKCORRY G.A.A.

CLUB NOTES

22nd November 2011

Come Dine For Rock

Our “Come Dine for Rock” night has now been fixed for Saturday 3rd December. I hear on the grapevine that a number of people have already hosted their evening with remarkable success and on behalf of the club many thanks for your effort and contribution. I also heard that some hosts incorporated a game of cards as part of their evening’s entertainment which is certainly a very good idea. Can I just point out that if Saturday 3rd December does not particularly suit you then by all means hold it on a night that is convenient to you and your guests. As previously advised whatever date you decide, whatever you decide to cook and whatever you decide for the evening’s entertainment is entirely up to you, you are the boss! All we ask is that you ask your guests to make a donation of a minimum €10 towards the club fund raising campaign. On a Final note, I will be available to call round and take a group photograph of your evening so please give me a call on 086-1041165 or alternatively you can take a photo yourself and email it to rockcorrygaa@live.ie.

Annual General Meeting

There has been a change of plan regarding our Annual General Meeting which will now take place early in the new year. Nomination forms will be circulated to all club members over the coming week and should be returned to club secretary Martina McKeown before the required date.

Coaching Conference

Monaghan GAA Coaching & Games Development committee are holding a Football Coaching Conference on Saturday 26th November in St Macartan’s College, Monaghan. The conference objective is to provide quality information and innovative methods of delivery, for coaches working with players from 6 to 16 years of age. At the conference coaches will get the opportunity to see some of Monaghan’s finest coaches in action and also witness at first hand some of the country’s most innovative coaches & personalities share their thoughts on best coaching practices. This conference is an ideal opportunity for coaches to see coaches who are masters of their trade in action and hear and see them talking about skills, movement, and structures critical to player and club development.  The cost of the conference will be €10 per person and the club has agreed to pay. The conference will consist of practical & theory presentations so please come prepared for indoor & outdoor activities. For further information about the conference please read the application form or contact Paul O’Connor on 086-8374827 or by e mail at developmentmanager.monaghan@gaa.ie

Birthday Celebrations

Congratulations to Tina Rooney who celebrated her birthday last weekend and like a fine bottle of cabernet sauvignon she’s improving with every year (that what Sean says!!!). Happy birthday Tina and we hope you celebrate many more of them in the years to come.

Christmas Tree – Table Quiz

We all like to see the village looking Christmassy over the festive season and there’s nothing nicer than seeing a well-lit Christmas tree on the village green. The Christmas tree committee is holding a table quiz on Friday 2nd December in St. Mary’s Hall at 8pm and I would appeal to everyone in the village to support this as generously as they can. Table of 4 costs €20 and refreshments will be served.

Senior Citizen Walk

These boots are made for walking is a well-known song by Nancy Sinatra and it’s that time of year again when people get on their walking boots to raise money for the senior citizen’s Christmas party. Sponsorship cards are currently in circulation and in the interest of balance I would urge everyone within the parish and surrounding communities to support this event which takes place on Saturday 3rd December.

Sympathy

On behalf of the club I would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of James Keeley who passed away recently. James involvement in the club goes back to the fifties and sixties and was regarded by many as one of the greats. In 2002 James was the recipient of our Hall of Fame award.

May he rest in peace.
