Come Dine For Rock

Calling all lovers of good food everywhere the foodilicious event of the year has nearly arrived and at this stage I hope all you foodies have decided on your menu and that you have invited your family and friends over to show off your culinary skills by participating in our “COME DINE FOR ROCK” night which takes place on Saturday 19th November. Just in case you have been living on planet Mars for the past six weeks let me explain. If you’re a fan of the hugely popular TV show ‘Come Dine With Me’ you will know the drill. But for those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about the challenge is easy. Simply, host a dinner party, tea party, barbeque or any other type of foodie night. Invite close friends and or family over (a minimum of ten people) for a delicious meal, relax have a glass of your favourite tipple and basically have some fun. In return, all we are asking is that you ask your guests for a minimum donation of €10 per head to support the club and to use the words of Tommy Cooper it’s “Just like that”. Whether, you’re a gourmand, a cooking aficionado or if you’re like me a fan of lovely homemade cuisine, then make sure you GET INVOLVED. It doesn’t have to be an extravagant five course menu because you could just have gourmet beans on toast the choice is entirely up to you. If you would like to host a dinner party then please contact myself on 086-1041165 or indeed get in touch with any committee member and they will be delighted to talk to you and give you details. For that extra special party night why not push the boat out and have a theme. Your guests could arrive in swinging sixties style, the groovy seventies or the funky retro styles of the eighties. The choice is yours! Furthermore, everyone who hosts an event will be entered into a fabulous competition for a special prize or prizes so no excuses get involved, be inspired and indulge yourself and your guests. Finally, as I will be busy in the kitchen can all hosts take a group photo of their night and email it to me at rockcorrygaa@live.ie and I will include a selection of them on our website and our annual yearbook.

The Rock Chippendales

I have been asked to plug the next BIG dance act entitled “The Rock Chippendales”. During the week I caught up with the lads, Noel, Martin, Stephen, Jamie & Cathal and they told me they have been secretly practicing their dance routine, since the football season ended, and if you are interested you can catch a sneak preview of their routine on our website at www.rockcorrygaa.ie or our Facebook page.  I understand, the ladies around the village are waiting anxiously to hear when their first live gig is and according to Stephen “we have nearly perfected our routine and will be soon taking bookings for Christmas party nights and or birthday parties.

Annual General Meeting

It’s that time of year again folks because our Annual General Meeting will be taking place towards the end of November or early December. The annual general meeting is the most important meeting of the year and ALL club members are invited to attend in order to reflect on the previous twelve months and to look ahead for the upcoming year. It is also a time to elect a new management committee and to communicate with other members about how the club is functioning. Nomination forms will be circulated to all club members over the coming week and should be returned to club secretary Martina McKeown before the required date.

Birthday Celebrations

Congratulations to my younger brothers Martin and Noel who celebrated their birthdays last week. If you see them out and about I’m sure they wouldn’t say no to a birthday drink of Coca Cola obviously!!! Happy birthday lads.
