Aido file: A big thank you from the club must go to our Gaisce members Tiarnán Bramley and Conor Burns. The pair of lads have been down every Sunday morning at 12 to coach our Under-12 hurlers of tomorrow and with the likes of Ógie and crew it isn’t easy folks! Happy birthday to senior hurler Patrick Meehan. Patrick turned 25 yesterday. Enjoy the weekend… And anyone who doesn’t meet him is advised to celebrate in his absence.

Séamus Trappe: It took 30 years, but a medal from Monaghan’s maiden Ulster Under-21 Football Championship win in 1981 finally found its way to our own Séamus Trappe last Sunday. Séamus had been living in Donegal when the letter went out about the presentation of the medals and he missed out, but it was brought to the attention of the county board and they sourced an extra medal which was presented at our AGM. The presentation came as a welcome surprise to Séamus, who had all but forgotten about it. Séamus received his medal from County Board Secretary Seán McKenna and team-mate Paudge Connolly. He joins a select group from the county to hold a provincial Under-21 medal, as Monaghan’s only subsequent win at that level was in 1998, so congratulations Séamie!

Scór: Well done to our representatives at the county Scór na nÓg finals last weekend, who were unfortunate not to be among the winners. The club will be competing in Senior Scór early next year, so anyone who wishes to take part can contact Cultural Officer Gerard Clerkin.

Handball: The draws for the Juvenile County Singles have been made and play commences at various venues on Sunday next. We have some players new to these championships and we hope they will gain valuable handball experience. We have representatives in most grades from Under-12 to Under-17. Please remember that matches must continue until the final pairings are known. The weekly coaching session is full and we are unable to accept any new players at present. The Challenger One league is progressing well and the Challenger 2 league will commence shortly. Any adult players wishing to enter the Ulster Championships should download the entry forms and send them to Austin McKenna as soon as possible. Ramunas leaves for the USA on December 23. He will travel to Tucson, Arizona via Philadelphia with the Irish team. His return is scheduled for December 30.
