Drumhowan Notes

November 28th, 2011

Scór na nÓg

Scór na nÓg County Final was held in Corcaghan Community Centre on Friday night last.  Drumhowan GAA was represented in 6 competitions and emerged County winners in 3 of them.  Congratulations to the winners: Musical Group (Colm Mc Mahon, Stephen Mc Mahon, Eimear Quinn, Conor Quinn, Finbar Brennan), Set Dancing (Aine Grogan, Christina Sherry, Megan Treanor, Sinead Grogan, Angie Mc Guirk, Orlaith Brennan, Lauren Duffy, Blinne Treanor) and Quiz Team (Stephen & Colm Mc Mahon, Patrick Duffy) who now go forward to represent the Club in the Ulster Semi Final in Clontibret on Saturday night next, 3 December at 7 p.m.

Hard luck to the other competitors who excelled in their performances but were not given the judges nod on the night (Figure Dancing – Angie Mc Guirk, Lorna Mc Guirk, Christina Sherry, Aine Grogan, Sinead Grogan, Cait Brennan; Recitation – Patrick Duffy and Novelty Act – Cait Brennan, Christina Sherry, Finbar Brennan, Blinne Treanor, Ryan Duffy, Daniel Tomany, Colm Mc Mahon, Aine Grogan).

In addition to winning 3 County Titles, Drumhowan GFC was also presented on the night with an award for Best Club, which recognises participation and success in Scór na nÓg competitions.  Cultural Officer, Pauline Grogan, was delighted to accept the award on behalf of Drumhowan GAA and all the competitors and their trainers who had worked very hard in rehearsing and preparing for the competitions.  The County medals and Best Club Award make it all worthwhile.   Meanwhile, it’s back to practising for the Ulster semi Final.  All support welcome in Clontibret on Saturday night next, 3 December at 7 p.m.
