Report on Winter 7’s Friday Night Football Under Lights Blitzes

On Friday night last saw the completion of the Winter 7’s Friday night football under lights blitzes. The U13 blitz took place on Friday 7th October in Cloghan with 20 clubs taking part in both cup & sheild competitions. Tyholland were victorious in the sheild competition beating Sean McDiarmada in the Final. Eire og were the winners in the cup competition beating Emyvale in the decider. The U15 blitz took place last Friday 14th in cloghan with over 20 clubs participating. Carrick were the winners in the sheild competition beating Killeevan in the final and Doomalet proved to strong for Clontibret in the cup competition. Over the both nights the standard of football was very high and it was encouraging to see teams adopting to this type of game and implementing the rules that were put in place. It is hoped that next year more dates will be available for these 7 a side blitzes to take place. I would like to thank the clubs and players for supporting the blitzes, referees & coaching staff to ensure that the blitzes were well organised.
