Congratulations: History was made within the club last Sunday when we won our first ever minor championship, beating Clontibret 2-8 to 1-8. A huge well done to everyone involved with the win. The lads done the club very proud and are worthy recipients of the championship. Each of the affiliated teams within the club congratulates the team on this achievement.

Final Action: More final action this weekend for the club, when we take on Castleblayney in the senior hurling league final this Saturday at 4pm in Monaghan. This is a huge step up for our hurlers and all support for the lads would be hugely appreciated.

Reserve Div. 1 (B’s): We will play Clontibret away in the league semi-finals this Sunday 16th October at 2pm.

Minors: We pulled off our greatest victory at underage level on Sunday last in Inniskeen when we defeated Clontibret to win the minor championship final for the first time, 2-8 to 1-8. We came out of the blocks in blistering fashion and by half time were 2-3 to 1-4 ahead. Our team and scorers were: Niall Rooney; Fergal O’Neill, Darragh McKenna, Mark McQuaid; Darragh McGinn, John McAnenly, Shane Treanor; P McKenna (0-2f), Patrick McMeel; Christopher Curran (1-0), Christopher McAnenly, Niall Skinnader; Chistopher McKenna (1-3, 0-2 ‘45s, 0-1f), A Treanor (0-3), Paul McMeel. Suns used: Cathal McAnespie for Niall Skinnader (58 mins). Other Subs: Dylan McGee, Aaron Treanor, Cian McKenna, James Deery, Caolan McGee, Fergal Rafferty, Noel Flood, Michael McCarron, Ryan Treanor. Joint captains, Padraig McKenna and Christopher McKenna, had the honour in receiving the cup on behalf of the team and club.

Lotto Jackpot now €3,000: There was no winner of last week’s jackpot. The numbers were: 5, 19, 20, 24. There were 2 match 3 winners each winning €100: Damian+May Douglas & Michael Treanor-Dungillick (Yearly Ticket). Next week’s jackpot is €3000. Check team: Ursula’s team.

Strictly Come Dancing: 14 couples have now hard practicing for the big night in the Hillgrove Hotel on Friday 28th October. Tickets for the dance off are now on sale. Get them before they sell out.

Strictly Come Dancing Fundraisers: The dancers and teams are in full swing for their fundraisers in the next few weeks: Table quiz in Terrys on Thursday 13th October by Bridie. Up for the Wax on Friday 14th October in St. Mellans by Mairead at 9.30pm. Lots of headshaves and waxing!! Followed by DJ. Barn Dance held in Todd’s Leap on Saturday 15th by Benny O’Hanlon. Guest tea on Sunday 16th October by Mickey Corrigan. Mairead is hosting a Cookery demonstration next Wednesday 19th October at 8pm. The chef on the night is a top chef from Lough Erne Hotel. Glynn Williams is holding a card drive on Thursday 20th. Bridie Gilsenan hosts a race night in Terrys on Friday 21st. Olive McKenna is organising a Texas Hold’em poker night in the Scarna on Friday 21st, Starting at 8pm. Kelly Fay is holding a FIFA tournament in St. Mellans on Saturday 22nd. In St. Mellans on Saturday 22nd at 4.30pm will see the Farney county Men take on the Farney county Women. This event is being run Daniel McKenna & Therese McNally. A 5km walk/10km run is being held on Sunday 23rd October at 11.30am. Registration on the morning. Thanks to everyone who supports these enjoyable events.

Club Shop: The club shop will is now open each Tuesday between 6.30pm-7.30pm and every Thursday and Friday evening between 7-8pm.

U-10s: took part in a blitz in Clannabogan last Saturday. We were knocked out of the cup competition in the quarter final stage final. Training session Thursday 7-8pm in St. Mellans.

U-12s: well done to our u12s who won the Clogher blitz for the second year in a row, beating Emyvale in the final

U-13s: Hard Luck to our u13s who where beaten in the semi final of the blitz in Cloghan last Friday night by Emyvale.

U-15s: are taking part in the Friday night football under lights in Cloghan on Friday 14th October,
Ladies Football:

A decade of sport 2000-2010: On Saturday night last we launched a book composed by our very own Margaret Treanor. Inside this you will find match reports, team line outs, pictures and all the momentous moments over the last 10 years. This is available from any of our committee members at €10.

 

 

Congratulations: A huge congratulations to Caoimhe Mohan on receiving an All-Star nomination. This is an exquisite achievement & we are extremely proud of you.  We also send our wishes to the other 9 Monaghan girls who received nominations. Well done & best wishes with the selection. The All Star Banquet takes place in The City West Hotel, Dublin on Saturday 12th November. Tickets are €70.

 

Strictly Bootcamp: As part of Ursula’s strictly fundraising a Bootcamp will take place in St.Mellans tomorrow night (Friday) from 6.15-7.15pm. Emma McKenna (Doogan) will be holding this for Ursula & it costs €7 payable to Ursula on the night. No level of fitness is desirable so get out, get fit & help Ursula in her final few fundraisers. Please note if there is heavy rain Bootcamp will take place in Carrickroe Community Centre. Any enquiries to Emma on 0831098877 or Ursula on 0868599749.

 

Senior A’s: Note that football for this group of girls is over for 2011. Unfortunately we had no success but a lot of work was put in with management & girls & here’s hoping for 2012! Please note if any girl wishes to continue training to keep their fitness up they can do so with the Senior B’s & Minors.

 

Senior B’s: Training continues with the minors. League semi final to be played. No fixture for this as of yet.

U-16’s,U-14’s & U-12’s: Football has come to an end for these girls for the year also. We thank all management teams who worked hard with these groups of girls all year round.

 

Well Done: To the minor boys on making history in the Club on Sunday last by winning the Minor Championship.

 

 

Hurling:

 

Seniors: Our seniors play ‘Blayney in the league final on Saturday evening in Monaghan at 4pm. All support appreciated.

Under 13 floodlit league: resumes this evening. Bus leaving Mellans at 6.30.

Handball:

 

Presentation Night/Ducksy in Town: We have the one and only Ducksy Walsh coming to visit us. The day starts at 4pm in the alley as he will be doing some coaching with our juveniles on the skills of handball and we ask all young and old to come along and see one of the all time greats giving some tips, then at 6pm he hope to have an exhibition match which will pit Ducksy up against some of our young guns all are welcome to come along. And finally the evening will close with our presentation night in St.Mellans at 9pm, Kevin will be contacting all the winners and runner-ups of the previous year about the night and we ask all to make a special effort to make the event. We would ask all who have agreed to help with the juvenile coaching to make a special effort to come to the 4pm coaching sessions.

Registrations: must also now be paid ASAP to Frank only. No other member of the committee will be accepting monies. Same fees apply as last year, Adult’s €30, 3rd Level students €15 and Juveniles €5. Also there is a €5 charge from the county board for all adult’s for each county competition entered into. Only fees that are paid will determine what each player is entered into. No pay no play under all circumstances.

Mono Team League, The Mono Team League will be up and running next week Tuesday the 16th and all games must start sharp after the juvenile coaching at 8pm and we ask all appointed captains to have their team picked and make sure all is there on time and also to have a referee in place every evening to referee each game, all games must be finished that night scores recorded and points written into the scoreboard.

Juveniles, We are going to start the juveniles over the next few weeks having sessions on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6:30pm for an hour just until we get all the registration in and we know who is going to play so we can break them up into teams as per what we done last year so it is important all come as quickly as possible as to get the team system up and running, registration is 5 Euros for the year.

Strictly Come Handballing. The Handball Club are running a Novelty Handball Evening on Sunday October the 16th at 6pm. The games will all be doubles with both male and female non-playing handballers in action. Each game will last 10mins admission will be €5 and all proceeds are in aid of Strictly Come Dancing. We invite everyone to come along and watch all the players in their first outing as handballers.
