Currin have marked their 125th anniversary in style by securing promotion to senior football after they won their Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League semi-final against Corduff on Sunday by 1-13 to 2-7. Currin are now guaranteed a place in the top flight for 2012 even if they lose to Carrickmacross in the league final, as the Sons of St. Patrick finished second in the table behind the championship winners, who beat Rockcorry by 0-13 to 0-10 in the other semi-final. The IFL Final will be played on the weekend of November 5/6 due to Carrick’s involvement in the Ulster Club IFC next Sunday against Kildress.

Platinum-Tanks-Limited

Tyholland won a dramatic Platinum Tanks Reserve Football League Division Two Final against Ballybay on Sunday, when Ryan McKenna hit a goal and a point in injury-time to make the final score 3-10 to 3-9. Killeevan had lifted the RFL Division Three title on Saturday with an extra-time victory over Aughnamullen in the replay of the final.

Castleblayney’s bid for the Ulster Club Intermediate Hurling Championship ended with a heavy defeat in the final against Middletown from Armagh on Sunday.
