Mr. & Mrs.: Just over two weeks remain until the club’s next fundraiser, which is a ‘Mr. & Mrs.’ Night in the clubhouse on Saturday, November 12. All sections of the club will be represented on the night, which will have an admission fee of €10 and is set to be a great occasion for all the family.

Street League: The club’s Under-13 street league continued last Friday evening, with close to 40 lads competing once again. The first game played was Munster v Connacht. The Power brothers played their hearts out for Connacht, who won the game by three points, even though Munster were driven on by the strength of Nathan O’Donoghue and Shane McCabe. Ulster defeated Leinster in the second game with only a few points between the sides. Ulster had the magnificent duo of Kevin Hall and Anthony Greenan, while Leinster played some great football through Ruairí Forde and Kelvin Cawley. Any 11/12/13-year-olds who have not made it down yet are welcome on Friday evening at 6.30.

Kids’ disco: There is a Halloween fancy-dress disco for kids in the clubhouse this Friday at 8pm. Admission costs just €5 for this juvenile-club fundraiser. All welcome.

Scór Spraoi: The first Scór event of this year will take place this Friday. This competition is for national-school children and our club will be entering three disciplines: Tráth na gCeisteanna, Instrumental Music & a Ballad Group. Scór Spraoi starts at 7.30pm on Friday in Tullycorbet Hall, Tullycorbet, Monaghan and all club members are asked to support.

U-15: Well done and hard luck to our Under-15s, who represented the club in the Monaghan GAA sevens competition in Cloghan on Friday week last. Thanks to Brian Lenehan, Michael Buckley, Seán Morahan, Frank Cassidy and Nicholas Scott for their work with the team.

Coaching: Level 1 Youth & Adult Football Coaching Course takes place on November 4/5 & 11/12 in Cloghan. Tutors for the course, which costs €55, will be Garrett Coyle & Michael Henry. An impressive line-up of coaches and tutors will take part in a Football Coaching Conference at St. Macartan’s College on Saturday, November 26. The conference objective, which costs €10 or €30 for four from one club, aims to provide quality information and innovative methods of delivery for coaches working with players from 6 to 16 years of age.

Ronaghan’s: The club would like to wish senior-team sponsors Ronaghan’s Pharmacy the very best of luck on the renovation of their premises at the Diamond, Monaghan.

AGM: Our Annual General Meeting will take place on Sunday, November 27 at 3pm.

Clubhouse: It’s a busy time for the Gavan Duffy Park clubhouse. As well as the Halloween disco and the Mr. & Mrs. night, we are also delighted to welcome well-known Monaghan-born singer Gloria to Rooskey on Saturday, December 3. The clubhouse, which offers fully-lighted lounge and function-room and ample car-parking space, is also available to book for parties and functions, by contacting Liadhan Treanor at 086 7837204.

JobBridge: Please visit our club website – www.monaghanharps.gaa.ie – for full details of the Monaghan GAA JobBridge scheme.

Handball: A Challenger One league for our young players begins on Saturday with the following players entered: Liam Conway, Tiernan O’Rourke, Kasper Ostrowski, Ryan Myles and Scott Cooney. This will be followed by another league for the next age-group, which will include Eoghan McGinnity, Conor Myles, Josh Maguire and others. Please note that entries for the County Juvenile Championships are limited to four from each club, with six allowed in the Under-12 group. This means that some players will miss out on this occasion. Congratulations to our club secretary Conor McDonnell on being chosen as Ulster Club Official of the Year. He will attend the National Awards ceremony in Croke Park in November.
