Monaghan Harps notes (October 11)

October 11th, 2011

Monaghan Harps Lotto: Numbers 5, 6, 19 and 24. Jackpot of €3,100 won by the Connell family c/o Owen Connell. Congratulations to Owen, Gráinne, Yvonne, Aidan and Eimear. Lotto draw takes place in the clubhouse every Sunday night. All welcome. There will be a lotto meeting in the clubhouse on Sunday at 9.30pm and all lotto-committee members are asked to attend.

Monthly meeting: Our monthly club meeting for October takes place this Thursday in the clubhouse at 8pm.

Poker Classic: The club’s annual poker classic was a great success at the clubhouse last Friday night. The winner on the night was Colm Prunty with over 80 players taking part. Special thanks to Peter Coyle for his work in organising the night and Liadhan and all who helped out with refreshments. Also thanks to our sponsors: Tommy Martin Fuels, Monaghan Bottlers, FJ Coyle & Associates, Moneycare, Hillgrove Hotel, Monaghan Town Leisure Centre and McConnon’s Shop

SHL Final: We host the Senior Hurling League Final between Castleblayney and Truagh this Saturday at 4pm. All help would be appreciated.

RIP: We offer our sympathy to the Brennan family on the death of former Monaghan Harps and Monaghan player Gerry Brennan, who represented club and county with distinction in the 1940s and 50s.

Bon voyage: Best of luck to Mark McCaughey, who recently left these shores to start a job in America. We all look forward to seeing Mark back in the Harps jersey.

Handball: The Irish Junior Nationals will be held at Kilkenny venues in November. Entry forms are available at the complex. Already we have some interesting partnerships in the 11-and-Under grade. Caileán Myles is teaming up with young Eoghan McGinnity and Justas is looking for a partner with Jakub Szkup his preferred choice so far. Ramunas intends entering the top Under-15 grade where the eventual winner will represent Ireland in the USA in December. Entry deadline is Monday, October 17.
