Truagh Notes

Final Action: Our U-16 hurlers are in final action again, when they take on Clontibret next Monday night in the championship final in Cloghan. All support appreciated.

Seniors: We play away to Magheracloone this Saturday 1st October at 4pm in our last game of the year.

Reserve Div. 1 (B’s): We will now play Clontibret away in the semi-finals of the league in mid October.

Minors: Championship final on 9th October in Inniskeen. Training as per management.

Lotto Jackpot now €2,600: There was no winner of last week’s jackpot. The numbers were: 8, 16, 22, 24. There were 8 match 3 winners each winning €25: Seamus McCarville, Clodagh McMeel, Colm Landers, Liza McCarron, Della Hunt, Eimear Rooney, Eddie McGinnity, Greg Finnegan (Yearly Ticket). Next week’s jackpot is €2,600. Check team: Josie’s team.

Strictly Come Dancing: 14 couples have now hard practicing for the big night in the Hillgrove Hotel on Friday 28th October. Tickets for the dance off will be on sale shortly.

Strictly Come Dancing Fundraisers: The dancers and teams are in full swing for their fundraisers in the next few weeks: A fashion show is being held in St. Mellans on Thursday 29th September by the dancing Valerie Mohan. Sharon is hosting Rula Bula in St. Mellans this Friday night, 30th September. Una McCabe Treanor is hosting ‘School Around the Corner’ in St. Mellans on Saturday 1st October at 9pm. Special guests will be the Truagh Jedward twins. 12km Fun Cycle this Sunday 2nd October leaving at 11am and returning at St. Mellans in aid of dancing Raymond. Registration on the morning, or with Bob Crush (0868584600). There will be a Clothes collection on Sat 8th October from Mellans at 11am, so bag up all those unwanted items e.g. Blankets,shoes, bags and Clothes. A ceili will be held in Carrickroe Community centre on Sunday 9th October, 4pm-7pm. A 5km walk/10km run is being held on Sunday 23rd October at 11.30am. Registration on the morning. Also 5-aside football starting soon. Get your teams together, details to follow.

Club Shop: The club shop will is now open each Tuesday between 6.30pm-7.30pm and every Thursday and Friday evening between 7-8pm.

U-10s: training continues every Thursday 7-8pm in St. Mellans. Our next blitz for u10s is Saturday 8th of October in Drumragh gac clanabogan. It starts at 9.30am, bus leaves St. Mellans at 8.15am.

U-11s: took part in a blitz in Emyvale last Saturday and were beaten in the semi final of the cup competition by 1 point by Emyvale.

U-13s: are taking part in the Friday night football under lights in Cloghan on Friday 7th October, starting at 7.30pm.

U-15s: are taking part in the Friday night football under lights in Cloghan on Friday 14th October, starting at 7.30pm.

Camogie:

Clothes collection: on Saturday 8th October at Mellans at 11am. So bag up all those unwanted items e.g. Blankets,shoes, bags and Clothes. This is a joint fundraiser for Strictly Come Dancing.

New Camogie Hoodies: for sale in Sports Club Shop, Adult and Kids sizes available.

 
Ladies Football:

Hard Luck : Hard luck to Monaghan Senior Ladies & management last Sunday in Croker, especially to our very own Maggie, Natasha, Caoimhe & Eileen. You done our club & county very proud. Keep the heads up.

Training: All training continues as per team management.

A decade of sport 2000-2010: On Saturday night last we launched a book composed by our very own Margaret Treanor. Inside this you will find match reports, team line outs, pictures and all the momentous moments over the last 10 years. This is available from any of our committee members at €10.

 

Hurling:

 

Seniors: Our seniors are through to the senior league final after an impressive win over Iniskeen on Saturday evening. With both sides opting for an attacking strategy, it left for an exciting and enjoyable match with some brilliant point taking on display. Truagh edged it on a scoreline of 1-17 to 16 points. Final now fixed for Saturday the 15th of October against ‘Blayney.

U-16s: The lads progress into the championship final after an emphatic win over Blayney in the semis on Monday evening. The final takes place next Monday evening in Cloghan at 8pm where they play Clontibret. Plenty of support expected.

12s and under: Training continues on Wednesdays at 6.30pm.

 

Handball:

 

A.G.M . We held our agm last Tuesday night in St.Mellans. Most officers were re-elected with the exception of the changing of the guard at the top with Owenie Joe stepping down after 3 years at the helm being replaced by Darrin. Brian(p) took over his job as vice. Chairperson: Darrin O Reilly, Vice-Chairperson: Brian Mc Kenna(P), Secretary: Kevin Treanor, Assistant Secretary: Christopher McKenna(PJ), Treasurer: Frank McKenna, Assistant Treasurer: Michael McCarron and PRO Peadar McCluskey. Others elected to the committee, Declan Mc Kenna(O), Mickey Todd, Eamon Todd, John Kelly and OJ Mc Clave. The club would like to thank OJ for the sterling work he has done over the past 3 and more years, and he was spotted taking new golf clubs out of the back of van on Wednesday morning.

We would ask all who received sheets on which competitions they want to play in for the coming season to be returned to Kevin ASAP.

Registrations: must also now be paid ASAP to Frank only. No other member of the committee will be accepting monies. Same fees apply as last year, Adult’s €30, 3rd Level students €15 and Juveniles €5. Also there is a €5 charge from the county board for all adult’s for each county competition entered into. Only fees that are paid will determine what each player is entered into. No pay no play under all circumstances.

Club shop: will now be stocking jersey’s for both senior and Juveniles, €25 for senior and €10 for juveniles. Also some polo shirts available (senior only) €25. The shop now is selling senior handballs, guaranteed cheapest prices around.

Juveniles: We are starting the Juvenile coaching in the next few weeks, but we ask all young players to get back into the alleys and any new players to come along and try it out. We will be notifying all through the Standard and the schools about registration and times of coaching. There will also be a short meeting soon for all old and new juvenile coaches coming up soon keep an eye out for details.

Presentation Night: Our presentation night is fixed for Saturday the 8th of October at 9pm. We ask all players young and old to come along for a bit of craic.

Finals: The outstanding Doubles finals are now fixed for tonight Thursday the 29th of September: Div 2 @ 8pm Patrick McKenna & Brian Mckenna v Declan McKenna & Richard O’Reilly then Div 1 @ 9pm Padraig McKenna & Kevin Treanor v Conor McGinnity & Darren O’Reilly.
