Truagh Notes

August 23rd, 2011

Cup Action: A busy week for Gaeil Triucha. We bowed out in the senior championship last Sunday. In better news, the U-12s had a convincing semi-final win to make the division 1 final on Saturday week. There was also joy for the U-16s who beat Emyvale to make the league 1 final against Scotstown. This final is to be played this Friday in Tyholland at 7pm. Support the boys.

Seniors: We exited the championship to Castleblayney in a tame 0-6 to 1-12 defeat last Sunday at Clontibret. Though we were level at 0-2 each after 10 minutes, we played second best for the remainder of the game, going in at the break 0-3 to 1-7 down. Both teams shared a further 4 points by the 45th minute, but by the end, ‘Blayney had ran out 9 point victors to bring another senior championship to a close with disappointment for us.  Our team and scorers were: Ian Treanor; Niall McQuillan, Niall Feely, Mike Treanor; Damien McRory, Barry Cuddy, Rory Treanor; Niall McMeel (0-1), Neil McRory (0-1); John Treanor, Daniel McKenna, Niall Coyle; Sean McKenna, Gary Feely (0-1), Mark Counihan (0-1). Subs used: Pauric Treanor for John Treanor (HT), Eoghan Kelly for Niall McQuillan (39mins), Daniel Finnegan for Sean McKenna (49mins), Gary Meehan (0-1f) for Gary Feely (53mins) & Brendan Treanor for Neil McRory (53mins).
