Truagh notes

August 16th, 2011

Seniors: In our most disappointing preformance of the year, we lost to Ballybay in the championship, 0-3 to 0-12. Our team and scorers were: Ian Treanor; Niall McQuillan, Niall Feely, Mike Treanor; Damien McRory, Barry Cuddy, Rory Treanor; Niall McMeel, Neil McRory; Padriag McKenna (0-1), Daniel McKenna, Niall Coyle; Christopher McKenna, Gary Feely, Mark Counihan (0-2, 1f). Subs used: Gary Meehan for Christopher McKenna (45mins), Eoghan Kelly for Barry Cuddy (54mins), John Treanor for Padraig McKenna (54mins) & Sean McKenna for Gary Feely (60mins). We now play Castleblayney in the qualifiers this Sunday at 5.30pm in Clontibret. We then play at home to Monaghan Harps in the league at 7.15pm in St. Mellans next Wednesday 24th August.

Reserve Div. 1 (B’s): Our next game is away to Magheracloone on Friday 26th August at 7.15pm.

Reserve Div. 3 (C’s): Our next game is against Emyvale in St. Mellans on Friday 19th August at 7.30pm.

Reserve Div. 4 (D’s): We lost to Killanny last week. We then beat Emyavle 2-6 to 1-6 on Monday night.

Minors: We were due to play Scotstown last Tuesday evening. We follow this with the championship semi-final against Castleblayney next Tuesday at 7.15pm in Tyholland.

Lotto Jackpot now €1,400: There was no winner of this week’s jackpot of €1,200. The numbers were: 7, 8, 17, 22. There were 9 match 3 winners each winning €25: Mick Brady, Hugh Pat McGinnity, Rowena McDermott, Gene Connolly, Adena Feely, Noeleen McCrudden, Brendan McNally, Patrick McKenna-Gortamoney (Yearly Ticket), Niall + Jenny McKenna-Carrickroe. Strictly Come Dancing: Comes to Truagh this autumn. Keep free Friday 28th October for the final.

Club Shop: The club shop will is now open each Tuesday between 6.30pm-7.30pm and every Thursday and Friday evening between 7-8pm.

U-6s: Coaching continues this Saturday at 10am for 4, 5 & 6 year old boys and girls in St. Mellans. Indoor area will be used in the event of bad weather. All welcome.

U-8s & U-10s: Our U8s are hosting our very own co go games blitz this Saturday 20th of August in St. Mellans. The blitz starts at 10am. Training continues for U-8s and U-10s every Thursday 7-8pm.

U-12s: Our a1 team  beat Monaghan Harps last Thursday evening 4-11 to 2-07. Our next game for u12s a1 team is in the semi final this Saturday 20th of august. Time and venue to be confirmed. Our a2 team have also reached the semi final where we play Emerald Sarfields next Saturday 20th of August. Time and venue to be confirmed.Training continues as per management.

U-14s: were beat by Cremartin. Our next game fo is at home to Magheracloone.

U-16s: play Emyvale in the league semi final in Emyvale tonight, Thursday 18th August, at 7pm.

Truagh U-10 blitz: We held our u10s blitz last Saturday which was a great success. Carrickmore won the cup and Armagh Harps won the shield. We would like to thank everbody who helped out on the day especially the catering committee who fed over 500 adults and kids on the day.

Camogie:

Seniors: Training continues tomorrow at 7.30pm and on Monday at 7.30pm.    Our next game is on the 9th of September when we take on Inniskeen in the final round of the league.

Juveniles: Juvenile training on Saturday at 11am.. Nicola, Brid and Claire are on duty this week. New players are very welcome.

Lucky Square: Congratulations to PJ Meehan who was last weeks winner of the lucky square.  Could anyone that owes for the lucky square please see Majella. Thank you to all who support.

Ladies Football:

U-12’s: Play Carrickmacross in the final of this competition. Date, time and venue yet to be confirmed .

U-14’s: Training continues as per managment

U-16’s: Have reached the semi finals of this competition. where we play Donaghmoyne. Date, time and venue yet to be confirmed.

Minors: Our first game of the League takes place Thursday 25th August at home to Donaghmoyne

Senior A’s: Play Emyvale A in St Mellans on Friday 9th Sept at 7pm..
Senior B’s: Training continues as per management.
Reserves: Our game is this Sunday 21st August away to Donaghmoyne at 12.30pm.

Thanks: To everyone who sold/bought  and helped make our ‘Thousand Euro Drop’ a big success. A special word of thanks  to our very own Davina Mc Caul on the night – A job well done . A great night had by all.

Peader Mc Geough Memorial Blitz: Due to Monaghan  Ladies playing this Saturday we have postponed this blitz. Another date will be fixed and all clubs will be notified.

Hard Luck: To Seamus, Debbie, Martin, Charlotte, Tara, Amy Mc, Amy M and the U16 county team when they were defeated on Sunday last in the All Ireland quarter final to a very strong Kerry team .

Good Luck: To Maggie, Tasha, Caoimhe , Eileen and the Monaghan seniors this Saturday as they take on Meath in Birr at 4pm. All support will be greatly appreciated . If you wish to travel to this game to support the girls please contact Grainne on 0862453351 or Sharon on 0872198005 before 8pm  tomorrow eve Friday. If enough numbers wish to travel a bus will be organised.

A decade of sport 2000-2010: On Saturday night last we launched a book composed by our very own Margerat Treanor. Inside this you will find match reports, team line outs, pictures and all the momentus moments over the last 10 years.
This is available from any of our committee members at €10.

 

Hurling:

Seniors: We have no competitive games now for a couple of weeks. Training continues as normal.

U-16s:
Had a good win over Clontibret on Monday evening last. Training next Monday at 6pm.

U-12s:
Training on Monday evening at 6pm.
