Previews (August 4-7)

August 4th, 2011

It’s another relatively quiet week of fixtures, but there are a number of league games down for decision over the weekend. Please note that the Junior Football Championship semi-final between Emyvale and Clones has been postponed due to a bereavement in the Emyvale club.

There are full rounds of games in the Senior and Intermediate Football Leagues this weekend. The action in the Drumlin Group of Credit Unions Senior Football League gets underway on Friday, when leaders Ballybay travel to Toome to play Castleblayney. Latton protect their ten-game unbeaten run in the league when they go to Doohamlet on Sunday for a repeat of their recent championship clash, while Magheracloone are away to Monaghan Harps, Truagh are at home to Clontibret, and Inniskeen make the long journey to Scotstown.

Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League table-toppers Carrickmacross have a home game against Drumhowan on Sunday. Their nearest challengers Corduff host neighbours Aughnamullen, while there is another local derby in Smithborough between Éire Óg and Seán McDermotts. Elsewhere, Currin have home advantage against Rockcorry and Donaghmoyne face Tyholland.

With the four championship semi-finalists not playing this weekend, there are just two games in the Gerry’s Takeaway Junior Football League, where Oram face Killanny and Toome take on Blackhill.

Before all that, there are games in the Silver Hill Foods Senior Hurling League on Thursday, when Castleblayney host Clontibret and Inniskeen make the short trip to Carrickmacross.

The GRM Minor Football Leagues resume on Tuesday, while the rescheduled Maguire Transport Minor Football Championship Division Three game between Clones and Donaghmoyne goes ahead on Wednesday, along with games in Divisions One and Four of the Platinum Tanks Reserve Football League.
