Magheracloone Notes

August 24th, 2011

Magheracloone G.A.A.

Lotto The jackpot continues to mount up each week and next week’s prize will be 8,100 euro for any lucky player that can match all four numbers.

The numbers drawn in this week’s Lotto were 2, 4, 11 and 18. The Jackpot was not won. The following four players collected fifty euro each in the Lucky Dip draw…Maureen Gainford, Carrickasedge, Thomas Monaghan, Drumconrath, Joe McCarthy, Rocks Road, Kingscourt and Patrick O Reilly, Hillview, Kingscourt.

Senior Championship. The senior team continued their successful run with a victory over Inniskeen on Sunday afternoon last. The first half proved to be low scoring with very little separating the teams. However, in the second half Magheracloone moved up a gear and finished with a comfortable victory. The selection of some of the younger panel members in the starting fifteen proved to be an inspired move and shows that the future of the club will be bright. One of the new players, Killian Rudden, helped himself to a goal and a point, while another highlight was the goal scored by Niall Babington, in a move started and finished by the hard-working wing back. After the disappointment of losing to Truagh in the earlier round, the team will look forward with more confidence to the next championship outing.

After Sunday’s championship game it was back to the league competition on Wednesday evening with a visit from Doohamlet while on Sunday the league continues when Magheracloone travel to Latton. The throw-in is timed for 12.30.

The Reserve league continues this Thursday evening when Magheracloone host Truagh with a 7.15 throw-in.

Juvenile News. On Saturday, 27th August, the U-14 Division Two competition will see Magheracloone take on Cremartin in Magheracloone with a 12.00 noon throw-in.

The U-16 team topped the table in their league but were beaten by Latton in the playoff semi-final last week.

Minor.  On Tuesday evening the minor team played out an exciting draw with Rock Sarsfields in the semi final of the Championship. The date for the replay has yet to be fixed.

In the meantime the league is due to continue next week with a home game versus Latton on Tuesday evening 30th.
