Castleblayney Notes

August 23rd, 2011

Seniors – The seniors advanced to the next round of the Championship with a comfortable 1-12 to 0-06 victory over Truagh on Sunday evening. Blayney were on the scoreboard first with a fisted Francis Moore point followed quickly by a point from Brendan McElroy, Truagh hit back to level by the 10th minute. Blayney then hit top gear and tagged on a 1-4 without reply through points from Treacy, Moore, Treanor and Ciaran Hanratty and a well taken Marty McElroy goal to lead by seven after 25 mins. The teams exchanged points in the closing stages to leave the half time score 1-7 to 0-3. Truagh opened the scoring in the second half but with Ciaran Hanratty keeping the scoreboard ticking over and another fine point from corner back Mark Treanor the outcome was never in doubt and Blayney took the opportunity to give their bench a run out during the last 15 minutes.
