Truagh Notes

July 5th, 2011

Championship Semi Finals for our reserve teams: Good luck to both our B’s and C’s who play in the semi-finals of their respective championships this week.

Seniors: We lost away to Scotstown last Friday evening 1-9 to 1-11. After several misses from both sides in the early minutes of the game, Mark Couinhan opened up a 2 point lead with 2 scores after 10 minutes. By the 20 minute mark the scores were level at 0-3 each, Christopher McKenna converting a free for us. The last 10 minute period of the 1st half saw more scores than any other period in the game with 1-7 scored. However, it was Scotstown who got the biggest share of these ,taking 1-5, while we added 0-2 to leave us behind at the break, 0-5 to 1-8. Scotstown extended this lead at the start of the 2nd half before we struck 3 points by the 38th minute to narrow the deficit to 4 points. The home side added a further point on 46mins which was cancelled out by Christopher McKennas free in the 53rd minute. At this stage we were on top which was realised with a well worked goal, finished by Gary Meehan, to leave just a point between the sides with 6 minute to go. We failed to add to this, missing a number of opportunities in the final minutes before Scostown added the last point of the game to finish 1-9 to 1-11. Our team and scorers were: Ian Treanor; Mike Treanor, Rory Treanor, Niall McQuillan; Damien McRory, Keith Sheerin, Niall Coyle; Pauric treanor, Neil McRory; Christopher McKenna (0-4, 3f), Niall McMeel (0-1), John Treanor; Gary Meehan, (1-1)  Daniel McKenna (0-1f), Mark Counihan (0-2).
